Office paper to end product...... dont know it needs to be shredded, pulped, strained and formed.

Tree to final product for new and unrecycled.... I dare say a whole lot more.

Yeah but if you work it out per roll. Im wondering how they dry the paper, if its something like a hot air blower than thats gunna suck up juice big time.

Yeah, and how about transportation... fuels... the fact that big factories are never efficient... the resouces everyone use to get to the factory... then theres what they would do with the office paper that they did not use... send that off for recycling... can it... out of laxness

Yeah but if the business isnt all that concerned with being genuinely environmentally friendly, then those options may be alot cheaper than installing expensive power hungry machines to make toilet paper that they probably buy in bulk for alot cheaper.

So.... we have gone from the ecofriendly standpoint on the machine... failed... so are now going for the cost effective nature of the machine?

It takes 40 A4 sheets of paper to make the roll which should not come into it as the paper was purchased and is used for other office purposes. Besides the paper it cost just 6p (UK obviously) to make one roll.(news.oneindia.in/2010/02/02/whitegoat-machine-turns-waste-paper-into-toiletroll.html

1 roll of toilet paper in japan is 24.41 yen (Toilet Paper, 12 rolls, 293 yen taken from "gojapan.about.com/od/dailylifeinjapan/a/costlivingtokyo.htm" which equates to about 16p (per roll using todays exchange rate) This of course takes into account exchange rates etc but even if the exchange rates were doing really really bad that would still never dip below 12p.

I know it can be arguesd that the cost of living in Tokyo is different in other cities and towns and that the exchange rate can be different and that prices may have inflated but that would just be clutching at straws.

Regardless, its about half the price of a new roll. Im guessing the price difference is to do wih the cost of wages in the factory, markup for the shareholders, the purchase of the raw resources, the energy used, packaging and travel.

White goat does away with most of these things besides energy used.

I was still arguing the eco-friendly nature of it. For it to have a positive effect, companies have to buy it. For a company to buy it, the machine has to be worth their money. If you've done your math correctly then yay, it is. White Goats for all.
