From the Skies

Some of you may remember a while back on my first visit to your store I played a rather large game against one Kruger, one of the best games I've ever had I must add. You may also remember that my army was largely unpainted, much to my own disgust . Well I've decided this is the best excuse I can find to get a large chunk of it done in a relatively short period of time. Considering the amount of money and time I have spent collecting this army I believe I owe it to these amazing miniatures to at least finish them off.

So, ladies and gentlemen I present to you over the next several months my Elysian Drop Troop Imperial Guard.

Now I already have a slight advantage in that I have painted 3 troop choices and my HQ choice, however my platoons are 45 men strong as of this date only 25 in each of the 3 platoons anywhere near completion. Therefore my goal is complete the remainder of these platoons as well start and finish the 4th platoon.

Here is the list of what I have left to do:
2 Sniper Squads
Heavy Bolter Squad
3 Hardened Veteran Squads of which 2 arent assembled
2 Infantry Squads per 3 different platoons
1 complete 45 man Infantry Platoon
9 Sentinels 3 of which arent assembled
and finally 3 Vultures

Looking over whats left doesnt really seem like I have an advantage at all and I'm also not sure how many points that is but it is a crapload of men to paint.

So my first lot is going to be the 2 Sniper Squads, the Heavy Bolter Squad and (hopefully) 4 infantry Squads. That'll finish off my HQ completely and also 2 Troop choices maxed out.

Jeez that's a lot of painting.

Did I mention I'm painting the armour white..........?

Well that will be... interesting lol White armour always makes good targets On the other hand it cant be much worse than Imperial Fists >_> yeah... yellow is such a good camoflage.

Still have to highlight all the black and finish the bases, having never been to the snow I'm not sure how to do it. To the test bases!

That looks awsome! I'll be interested to see how the snow bases go, since im gunna be doin all my space wolf bases with snow. And a whole game board in january >_>

Well here's a snapshot of what I have to get done this first month, doesn't really seem like a lot now. Not including the boyz at the back. Or the shermans to the side.

Thats cool, I've got an Elysian army on the go atm, and I've done them in a snow camo scheme. they look pretty good i reckon. Only have atm 20 men with a Valkyrie and Vulture. Very much still in the collection process. they just cost soo much. If u like I'll post a pic or two to show.

Ok here's what I had in mind for the bases



I think I like it, can always do a few more to make sure it's what I want.

As for FoW I have early-mid war Afika Korps (beginnings of), mid war Hungarian Tank Company, late war US Armored Rifle and Tank Company and late war German Panzer Lehr Gepanzerte Panzergrenadiers and a mismatch of armour for a late war German Tank Company.

nice, how about some water effects in some places around the edge of the melting snow? Like painting on a bit of shiny clear stuff (e.g. the GW water effects Ash showed me a while back)

I'm having second thoughts about my choice of army. For the past 2 weeks i've been assembling Orks, and now I have a taste for them. The only thing being is I'm not sure they'll hold my interest til the end of the year unlike the Elysians which will.

I think once I get into the Elysians it'll be hard to stop doing them, except for the Vultures. Not looking forward to them.

Yeah I remembered someone else was doing them after I posted.

I have my first game with Orks tomorrow night under 5th with the new codex, I'm sure I'll have had enough of Orks for a while after that.

Unique means "one of a kind", things can not be very unique, they are either one of a kind or they are not.

I had a much better idea, although it would require oodles of converting. An Ork paratroopa army xD

Well like a few other people I'm off to a slow start (damn Medieval 2: Total War and its adictiveness). So far all I've done is the flesh on 40 guys that I'm not real happy with but with 200+ guys in the entire army they'll all blend in together. For the rest of tonight I'll be doing the fatigues shade colour of graveyard earth before taking a break from that and finishing the heavy bolter squad off.

Yea that is a game that seems to have a link to warp time reality you start up, and before you know it hours have dissapeard and you think where did that go. Crap i got nothin painted .
