afoul Cup
Next week, wednesday July the 14th will see a champion crowned in the AFOUL league.
The game will kickoff at 8:30 and will feature the Blue Chaos Muffins and the Dark Ravens. WHile the Ravens are an agile multi-skilled team with alot to offer, they can't matchup against the Muffins in pure hitting power. To win the Muffins will need to get stuck into the Dark Elves early on and thin out their numbers. If the elves manage to spread the field and keep their distance they will have the advantage, if they can score early without loosing more than a player or two the Muffins will have an upfield battle to pull ahead.
Each coach in the league, present and future, may place a wager on the match by choosing a winner and a scoreline in this thread before the match. Coaches can wager 100,000 from their current treasury (if their team is continuing on next season) or 100,000 from their budget to build their team for next season.
the All-star Game
Each coach chooses his 5 best players, (highest SPP) to play in the All-star game. The coaches of the Blue Chaos Muffins and the Dark Ravens can include their players or rest them for the final as they wish.
Due to the prestige of playing in the all star game each player who takes part will gain an MVP bonus at the end of the game and will earn DOUBLE points for any SPP they earn during the match.
Guests who do not yet have a team may choose any star player to use in the game (a variety of suitable miniatures is available from current players).
A coach who has already decided what team he or she will be creating for next season can buy a single player from that team to participate in this game. The player will gain experience as usual, and may start the next season with a skill if he earns enough points. However, if he dies the points will be wasted and can not be spent again.
The players will be assigned to two teams and a game will be played in the following fashion:
Gameplay
Turns operate differently, a double deck of standard playing cards is used to represent the initiative of the players. Each player has a number 1-11, represented by the cards Ace, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,Jack. One team is black suits, one team is red suits. Cards are pulled one at a time and the corresponding player's action is resolved.
The following actions can be performed by any player at any time:
move
block
foul
handoff
If the king or queen of your suit is drawn then place it next to the deck face up and continue to draw cards until a non king or queen is drawn.
At any point during an action by your player you may use one of these face up cards to allow your player to perform pass and blitz actions.
At any point during a move action you may discard one of your team's face up King cards to throw a block, as if it was part of a blitz action.
At any point during a move action you may discard one of your team's face up Queen cards to perform a pass action or to take the ball from one of your team mates (ie a reverse handoff).
When a king or queen card is used place it on the discard pile.
If one of the 4 Jokers is drawn then the next player whose card is drawn may perform any action, including a blitz or pass AND the player can reroll one failed dice roll during his action.
If the 'rules for playing stud poker' card is drawn the ball explodes, roll for injury if a player was carrying the ball and make an armour roll for any adjacent player. A new ball is thrown in from the nearest sideline and the rules card is placed in the discard pile.
setup
Each team starts with 11 players in their own endzone, with the ball in the middle of the pitch.
Turns
The first half ends
1) when a team scores, or
2) when the decks have been exhausted twice
The second half ends;
1) when two decks have been exausted, if one team is winning, or
2) when a team scores a second time, or
3) if the score is tied it will continue until a team scores.
Special Rules
There are no team rerolls, no fame, no kickoff table.
Blood Lust
A vampire with blood lust can feed on any non-undead player.
Move the vampire in contact with any player, if the target player is not a thrall make an armour roll for the victim, if it the roll fails to break armour the vampire may not feed and is goes off the pitch to feed. If he breaks armour he feeds (make an injury roll) and stays on the pitch. If the target is a thrall use normal blood lust rules.
