This week saw the first trial of the simpler injury roll rules, designed to make life easier with less record keeping and less players missing a match. However it did seem to raise some questions, did it really make things simpler?
IMHO the injury roll of 66 being a death is great, and a 2d6 result of 10 being badly hurt is fine too (or 9 plus mighty blow=BH etc). But the real difficulty is that there are so many results possible from the serious injury table.
Will not having STR decreases detract from the game? Is it worth putting a generic result on serious injury? or should be just roll a table like 1 miss next game 2 miss next game and niggling 3-4 miss next game and -1 AV 5-6 miss next game and -1 MA 7 miss next game and -1 AG 8 miss next game and -1 ST
thoughts?

Personally, I prefer the original way. Simplifying it just makes it a bit too harsh in my opinion. Especially if a character can get hurt. Before you know it, you're going to have to cut them because they will become way to prone either because of low armour or niggling injuries. The old way give far more variety and a good chance to walk it off.

I like the LRB6 method, to be honest. It doesn't seem broke. And technically it's a d68.

As for me I don't really mind either way as long as I get to move around minis, roll some dice, drink some beer and have a laugh.

thanks ash, I think you are picking up on the more detailed rules better than I give you credit for, with the exception of the occasional players Meg and Shippy everyone else has a firm handle on this rule, and given that we haven't coaxed any of the 40k players to play I'm happy to proceed with the current season with LRB6 casualty rules.
For those who may be worried about excessive or key casualties in your games this week please note that the preseason time is a free and loose time when teams can be scrapped and rebuilt for any reason, you are not bound to the team you used this week. The primary purpose of the few preseason games is to let everyone have a chance to try out a few races or roster configurations before playing games that count. It also gives you the chance to try to skill up a couple of players with the much needed roles for your team (sure hands on a beastman springs to mind for chaos for example).
