Greenacre Gamers Presents
Auscape 2010
23rd October 2010
A Scape Tournament in SA???
Yeah, thats a pretty big deal!
If you've never played Heroscape before, it's a pre-painted miniature combat game, played on a customisable hexagonal battlefield. The rules of the game itself are quite simple, so it's easy to learn, but the miniatures all have unique abilities and interact with each other in interesting ways, and that's where the strategy in the game lies.
I'll put up some surplus 'scape I have in the form of prizes, and if you can, bringing something to put on the prize table to pad out the prizes - whatever we get, we'd be looking to spread out thinly so everyone gets something if possible.
There will also be a few Gen Con exclusive Agent Skahens which have never really been available to us Aussies so that should put a bit of beef on the plate!
I recommend getting a game or two in before the day if you've never played it before, but it's not hard to learn - it's hard to master. So brand new players are welcome! Come and try!
This event is open to all who wish to take part!
Armies
you will need two 500pt prebuilt armies (limited to 24 hex starting zones) on the day. Before each match and before your opponent has been decided you are to choose which army you will be using. This will allow you to mix up what your playing with on the day as well as add some variety at what you can see happening as you wander around and watch other peoples games.
Games
There will be five games on the day. Each game will be a standard game of heroscape played over prebuilt battlefields with opponents being determined before each game.
At the start of the tourney, players hand in their cards with the box ticked to say which army they’ll use in round 1. These cards are shuffled face down, and dealt out ala blackjack into pairs. This is the first tournament pairing.
You will be assigned maps randomly each round.
When time is called, the order marker that is currently being resolved gets finished, and the game ends.
Missions
No actual missions as yet but I dare say there will be glyphs on the maps. If any formn of formal mission structure is decided upon the information will be placed here.
Scoring
Total win: totally wiping out the opponents army.
Points win: At the end of time, the points on your cards that are still ‘alive’ at the end of the game are greater than the points on your opponents cards that are still ‘alive’ at the end of the game. It doesn’t matter how many squad members are dead, as long as one is alive, that card scores at full points.
Tie: points are the same at the end of the game.
Points loss: At the end of time, the points on your cards that are still ‘alive’ at the end of the game are less than the points on your opponents cards that are still ‘alive’ at the end of the game. It doesn’t matter how many squad members are dead, as long as one is alive, that card scores at full points.
Total loss: Your army is totally wiped out by your opponent.
Battle Points
Total Win 5pts
Points Win 4pts
Draw (nearly impossible) 3pts
Points Loss 2pts
Total Loss 1pt
After each match, players write 5,4,3,2 or 1 in the match points section. Also write your opponents name in the space provided.
Then in the section for the next round, indicate which of your two armies you’ll be using, and hand the card in to the organizers.
Timetable
1pm first matches announced
1:10pm 1st round starts
2:10 1st round ends and 20 minute break
2:30 2nd round announced
2:40 2nd round starts
2:50 2nd round ends
(look, I could keep writing this stuff but it'll get to be boring reading and even more so writing it. You get an hour to play your games with a 10minute break between them. there will be a longer break between rounds 3 and 4. The day is expected to finish officially at about 8ish with maybe a fun all in game afterwards for those wishing to participate.)
As you can see this is a pretty full timetable with a lot of gaming. As such please try to make it to the event on time. There is 20minutes free time between the games in order for you to manage your army aswell as fill out your results etc. Smokers, this is the best time to accommodate your addiction.

We have a lot of miniatures between us so there is lots of choice on what you can build. I (Ash) will be bringing my Heroscpae in every Friday and some Sundays until the tournament. At these times you can learn the game aswell as start making choices as to what your force will comprise of for the tournament.
If you think you will not have sufficient games in hand to be ready for the tournament... bollocks. You can pick up the game in the time it takes to play one game... the rules are really that simple and straight forward.
So come in on games night and check it out.
