2 days of hilarious gaming, beers, barbeques and shitloads of prizes.
Last year I finished something like 16th of 20 and got a $25 gift voucher, 4 dice, 2 commemorative miniatures and a great weekend all for just $40.

This year the price has dropped to $35 if you pay by Aug 17th.
You get $10 off if you bring a friend who hasn't played at SSB before.

The best thing about the system is that with the swiss ranking you are always playing against people who are of similar skill level, if you want to take a fun team and just have a good time, you'll be playing against similar minded people, if you want to test your metal and duke it out with the best players from the state and around the country you can do that too.

Should be a fantastic weekend, I'm really looking forward to it.

Hi guys,

Adam here, tournament organiser for Southern Shrike Bowl. Just to clarify what Alex has said, ticket prices are $35 if you register by August 17. After that they go up to $40.

However there is a $10 "bring a friend" discount, as Alex said. If you bring a friend along that hasn't been to SSB before (regardless of whether you are a new or returning player) and you will both get $10 off your ticket price.

So if you bring a friend and pay by August 17th it will cost you just $25 to play.

If that isn't cheap enough for you, for any Under 18's that attend ticket prices will be capped at a mere $20 (no further discounts sorry). If more than 3 Under 18's attend there will be a special Under 18 prize.

As Alex said, the prizes last year were pretty damn good. This year the prizes are shaping up to be just as good, if not better. One I've finalised a few more details I'll post with a little more information.

What I can guarantee now though is that, as was the case last year, every single player at SSB will get a prize pick. On top of that there will be a couple of very cool gifts that every single player will get just for attending. I'll post more details once these gifts have been finalised.

I will not be surprised if every single player gets close to their ticket price in prizes, if not more. Regardless of the prizes though, it really is a lot of fun played in a relatively low-key and friendly atmosphere.

So come along and give it a go. I can assure you that you won't regret it.

guys, to help you decide what team to take, here is some info from Olaf, posted on ausbowl,

- Orcs are by far the most popular choice of race, having been taken by 12 coaches.
- The next most popular race is Dark Elves, which have been taken by 6 coaches.
- No-one has taken Goblin, Pro Elves or Underworld teams. There was a Goblins team that came in as a last minute fill-in for the last 2 games on the Sunday this year but I don't think that counts.

Whichever one you like best, Adam is fine by me.

The winner of the AFOUL award at SSB (ie highest placed coach representing AFOUL) will have the following special rules in all practice, preseason, and regular season games in the League:

• the coach may make TWO foul actions per turn against any coach who has never attended SSB.
  
• the coach's first player to be sent off for fouling is not banished for the entire game, but instead is sent to the reserves box. Any future send-off works as usual.

I think I like "A Fouler of Distinction" the best. Incorporates both the league name and feel in one.

I like that you have a special rule that will only work against those that don't come to SSB!
