Pretty self explanatory really. We had this thread at the forum i used to go on and it was interesting to see just what sort of books people were in to, which ones were good and the odd book that no one had heard of but turned out to be awsome.
Im currently reading War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells, if you havent heard of it then you suck.

I used to read alot, but went through a phase where I just couldn't finish anything. This was about the time I was doing alot of reading for uni, since then I kinda don't get much enjoyment out of reading non-fiction except for rare occasions.
I tend to read lots of non fiction, anything I have a passing interest in, at the moment I am reading "Basic Conversational French" that I picked up in the opshop for a couple of bucks, a really old comprehensive set of exercises for learning french, to go along with the 'tapes' I listen to at the moment.

Well you already know what I am reading mr Dodo but I shall let everyone else know. I am currently reading Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve.
Its quite a good book and set in a world completely different from any I have read about..... Earth in the future and its got cities roaming, yes, ROAMING about on its messed up surface. Would like to explain further but its a little complicated in my tired tired state. Suffice to say it involves the following:
Municipal Darwinism Anti Traction Leagues Guild of Engineers Seedys Airships The city of London on giant caterpiller tracks.......
yeah!

I had the same problem when I first tried to read war of the worlds. Couldn't finish it. Read it last year finally, wasn't that good. Neither was 1984. Treasure Island was pretty good though.

Yeah in my case im even less motivated since ive read it before. Books usually gather dust on my shelf until when i look at it i have trouble remembering everything that happens, so i read it again. Worst comes to worse ill read I Am Legend again, or maybe see if the library has The Picture of Dorian Grey. Both are good reads, although i f**king hate the I Am Legend movie, the book absolutely shits all over it.

another development that has ruined me for reading is ebooks and audio books.
I will pretty much only read a book if I can get it onto my palm (which is getting easier than it used to be), because then I can read it in bed without a light on, and the palm goes wherever I go, so I always have it with me to read if I'm bored somewhere.
A couple of years back I decided I should cave and read the harry potter books, but couldn't be bothered actualy reading so I got them on audiobook, and jsut listened to them. I found I liked this way of reading and listened to the first few Dune novels this way too. I'm part way through book 2 (actually read book 3 second oops), just like I'm halfway through about 15 books, starting with Ivanhoe about 5 years ago when I lost my attentnion span for reading fiction. Dune is great though, its perhaps the most intelligently written fiction I've come accross, the writing style is grammatically clear and perfect, the vocab is huge and the book often wanders into a philosophical musing that really makes your mind open up and go "oh yeah! wow!".

I found Fahrenheight 451 on my palm the other night and started reading it. Also remember I'm part way through Failed States, by Noam Chomsky and Consilience by Edward O Wilson.

I didn't really get much out of Fahrenheit 451, I liked the idea behind it so I read quite a while back. Bit of a shame.

Lmao, i never read more than one book at a time unless i have to read the 2nd for school or something. I picked up The Picture of Dorian Gray from the library (if you've seen League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, this is the book that the picture guy came from) and 4 com- *cough* graphic novels. Hellboy: Right Hand of Doom and something else Bearua of Paranormal Research and Defence: Soul of Venice, and another one i also cant remember lol

I tend to get bored about 40% of the way into most books, and after a month or so I try another...
