They bought those rights a little while ago and there has been some debate on Wau about it.
Do you think these movies can gross enough in order for large quantities of them to be made even though they are not action, conventionally humorous, full of sex or whatever else the general public needs?

Definatley, i mean just look on daytime television and you see hundreds of shitty b-grade movies that continue to be made, and Hogfather was anything but that. Plus people are suckers for kid's movies.
It will be interesting to see how well they do Colour of Magic. I just wish theyd hurry up with a Guards one.

Ahhh, theres the difference...
Straight to TV telemovie vs at the cinemas movie.
Remember that Hogfather was something like 4 hours long so its doubtful that any other will make it into a 120min format which the regular public can only just tolerate and build into their busy schedule of 'what dress will I wear this Friday night?'

If it's to make it to the bigscreen, it'd first of all have to be "Americanized" for the general (read: 15-25yo) Australian public. All the main characters would have to be filled by American actors and actresses (I refuse to be politically correct  ). There'd have to be a serious love scene or two to get the females of our species to go watch it, and it'd have to be pruned down to about a 90min running time. Oh yeah... It'd also have to be set in L.A. or New York. |
