As you can guess from the threads title the Fantasy Tournament slated for this Saturday and Sunday may be canceled. Due to a series of unfortunate events quite a few people have had to drop out and a few more are yet expected to. At the time of writing this message we only have 8 players left due to attend this tournament (we did have 14!) and this is about the bare minimum that a tournament can be run allowing players to have a decent spread of games and any sort of meaningful prize support. If there is one more cancellation the tournament will have to be called off and I will do so with much regret. A final decision will be made on this matter and posted by 9pm tomorrow night (Thursday) However not all is lost. The people attending this tournament have no doubt made themselves free and even probably booked hotel rooms and as such there is now a 'plan B'. Should you still wish to attend for a weekend of Fantasy Battle gaming down at the Dice and Deck we will run a Mighty Empires Campaign on the same days and at the same times. You can still field your 2200pt armies but in a different way. The rules for Mighty Empires only take up about 3 pages so if you have never read them before and do not have access to them it will only take you 10 minutes to get up to speed. Anyways lets hope it does not come to that and that the tournament will continue. Anyways until 9pm tomorrow night...... Feel free to discuss this and let me know what is going on. If there is anyone who would like to attend this tournament the doors are wide open to you

Would be a great pity if it doesn't go ahead We booked hotel rooms back in early January and even then the hotels were almost full up due to it being the Valentines day weekend. I don't think prizes are really necessary for the tournament, but maybe a sale at the store on the same weekend might attract a few more people A structured / timed series of games would be good, just to make sure we can get 5 games in each and make it a worthwhile weekend of Warhammers. If anyone can't make it due to lack of models let me know and I should be able to loan some minis for most armies.

Lost another player today which means tournament is off but there will still be a series of structured games.
We will now be running Mighty Empires and as I have said the rules are very simple. You still play Warhammer as per usual but it just brings a different meaning/context to the games. There will be 5 seasons (meaning 5 games) and each game will have a limit of 2.5 hours. So basically you will be getting the same as you would in the tournament but this makes it friendly for the small amount of players attending.
The fee will remain and as such there will be prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd. We will still have a bit of a feed on Sunday as well.
So I guess the only thing I need to do is present you with the structure for the weekend.
Saturday: Everyone should aim to get there by 10:30am as I would like to kick the weekend off on time this time! The first thing is for people who are unfamiliar with mighty empires to read the rules. They are about 4 pages long and very basic.
After that we shall all take turns in placing the hex pieces to form the map of the realm we shall bash over!
Then is a dice roll for order of initiative in regards to issuing the first round of challenges. Normally you can issue challenges to anyone at anytime but due to time restrictions and trying to get things done in one weekend you will only be involved in one battle per season. The other restriction for organizing challenges is you can only play a person twice maximum.
At about 11:30 the first round of games will start. They will have a 2.5 hour time limit (as per the tournament rules)
Usually after a season of battles you would roll for your earnings for each mine and city you own. these would allow you to purchase more troops for your army allowing you to have an army larger than your opponent. Due to the fact we will be using fixed army lists the following will replace those rules:
The tournament was about magic and this event will retain that feel. Instead of buying troops with your money I will be allowing armies to purchase extra dice for either casting or dispelling. These will sit in a common magic pool and once used are discarded. These will cost an empire 200 revenue. (all these things will become clear to you once you read the rules for Mighty Empires)
Between each battle there will be a half hour period of rolling for events, revenue etc.
There will be 3 seasons on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.
Sorry if this all seems like ranting but I really needed to get this post out by 9pm tonight and I am already 10 minutes late!
Any questions?

That idea has been dropped. Replaced the way people spend their revenue (now instead of more troops you buy cast/dispel dice to put on top of your pool. This effectively keeps the magic theme happening)
So you still get to use the same list you would have taken to the tournament.

1030... f**k well we MIGHT make it on time, but we'll prob be a little late. Both of us are keen on competing in a mighty empires thing though if we can scrap a list together. Otherwise ill play anyone else hanging around
