Something happened at the store today that made me think of a few more house rules for apocalypse. House rules are cool as they can be wavered at the disgression of those playing (as long as all involved agree of course)
The last game of Apocalypse; Megapocalypse, was very successful but there was one thing that did mar the experience: the super super heavies.
The larger titans seem to have a negative effect on the game so I was thinking of making a limit to their use. Here is what I was thinking:
The number of structure points and force fields etc combined can not exceed the points value of the game in thousands (thats possibly the worse description ever!)
Example:
Random Titan sized super heavy has 9 structure points and 4 void shields making for a total of 13. To make its use legal via the house rules the game must be 13000pts plus per player on average.
I am sure some people will have a problem with that but it will add the balance back in the game that the megapocalypse was seeming to lack. Remember this is a house rule only...

Sounds good, that is the one problem with the games. Those big titans can be absolute thingys. Another rule i think should be brought in is that if you're proxying a model it should atleast both resemble and be the approximate size of the model its proxying for. Ie... no toyrobot warlord titan

This does not have anything to do with proxying funnily enough.

That said, i think it might be more balanced now with all the anti-titan baneblades that are out. Its not so much the size of the titans, its just the lack of things to take them out.

Hahaha yeah they do at that. Monstrous creatures also, its just getting them there to start hitting. People should field more Titanhammer squads.

I am talking Warlord Titans etc. Those are what the new house rules for DnD events are aimed at. A Warhound is alright, under these rules they can be used in a medium sized game of Apocalypse.
My stompas can kill pretty much any titan first turn when I band them up with my lootas in Trukks.
"But what if the enemy gets first turn and blows them up?"
Simple... I forgot to deploy them during deployment... They walk on in my first turn.... Then I shoot.

Warlords are supposed to be massive f**king models. I problem with them is when someone just puts a model the size of a warhound and says its a Warlord. If it was put the right size then everything on the board would be able to shoot at it, and with the large number of shadowswords etc. that are bound to start appearing, GG titan.

My personal opinion is that any model that is placed on a table should show that the player has made some effort into its design, construction or finish. I think this is more in keeping with the social/ friendly spirit of the game. If we don't plan to try to keep with the spirit of the game I personally will be fielding 64 CARNIFLEX,s constructed of a surprisingly light aluminum, all called SOLO in the next apocalypse game.

I think it is important to play in the spirit of the game when playing with so many other people, proxies are ok to tryout a new option in a casual game with a friend but otherwise they are just downright bad.

The house rule stays. This thread is now about the spirit of the game and proxies...
