Ok I was informed about this a while ago now but was not really meant to say anything however since I have now heard this news from a different source I can talk about it and not break any kind of verbal contract!
Lord of the Rings is going Apocalyptic!
Everyone who has played LOTR knows that it is best played at a smaller points value then a game of Fantasy. Its been built to be played like that, smaller skirmishes and highly scenario driven.
Playing larger games takes a lot of time and you would never dream of playing something over 2000pts unless you were either mad or had a lot of time to spare!
But still there was a need for all the LOTR fans to really recreate those huge battles from the films. Helms Deep, Minas Tirith, Pelenor Fields... and all the other huge battles from the films and books.
Games Workshop has provided.
In a future White Dwarf (April I think) there will be the beggining of a series of articles which will allow massive games of LOTR (and I'm talking 5000 + points here) to be played in a matter of half a day.
Movement Trays will be produced as well as a streamlined command system (apparently similar to Warmaster) There will be 'datasheets' and the Heros will in fact become HEROS!
No more having Aragorn Slay 15 goblins in a game before it ends now he will be capable of felling dozens!
I am really looking forward to this release but it means I will need to buy A LOT more Uruk Hai!
More news as I hear it!
