What sort of decks are most people using? I want you guys to tell me the colour, what type of spells you have, strategies, all that stuff. I'll kick it off with my giant deck, which involves, you guessed it: GIANTS! Most of the creatures in this deck are large and expensive, although there are a few cards that reduce the cost of my giant spells. The general strategy is to just keep rolling out giants, while throwing in the occasional burn spell (most of which are giant tribal instants . The basic giants can easily hold their own, but there usually isnt enough to tip the balance, so there are some really nasty ones that have some great effects, such as getting larger each time a new creature comes out (Hamletback Goliath), or my personal favourite: creature throwing! When i can find this deck, I'll post what cards i have in it.

Well I am toying around with a Green Elf/Wurm deck.
The majority of my creatures are high mana cost (6+) but there are some smaller ones thrown into the mix, especially elves that allow me to generate mana quicker.
The majority of my spells involve generating mana and boosting my already strong wurms. I also like to use Strength in numbers as I send out my army and hope for the best.
My tactic? Build it up, then boost everything and attack with all and hope for the best. Usually hit for 60-70 in the turn that I charge but I have been owned by cards which 'negate all damage this turn'. This leaves me open and usually quite dead!
Still trying to get this deck to work more efficiently as in multiplayer games I tend to get ganged up on early and wiped out quick... Noone wants to face the large number of Wurms I can potentially summon....

About $18 a deck of 60 cards. The decks are premade and all the cards compliment each other. Usually multicolored but with the new set out im not sure what color/combis are available.
Boosters are $5.70 from the dice and deck (bout $5.95 elsewhere)

I played a lot of a great CCG called Middle Earth:the Wizards. Its OOP now, but I have lots of the cards. My mate's Gaming Den also had a couple of others I never collected like magic and one based on some fantasy books.
In middle earth your deck has 2 equal halves, the good half and the bad half. The bad half is evil creatures that occur in middle earth, you play them on your oponent during his turn to attack his characters as they travel around middle earth. The other half is resources
You start the game with a starting party of characters from middle earth in play on the table (like Magic creatures), Gandalf Aragorn, Elrond, Eowyn, those sort of guys, and they can be equiped with items like armour, cloaks, swords, shields etc. Each turn you declare where your party is going to (rivendell, moria, edoras... etc) and depending on the type of lands you pass through your oponent can play creatures against your party which they have to fight off, or avoid somehow (with stealth or magic spells etc). SOme sites are more dangerous than others, so if you go to a town or city like Lorien or Minas Tirith you are unlikely to be attacked by anything more dangerous than a pickpocket, if you are going to Moria then you can expect lots of orcs and maybe some undead or trolls, if going to a village you might expect some brigands etc, In a forest you'll see wolves and giant spiders and so forth. If you are going to a remote cave or wilderness you might just find Smaug the dragon paying you a visit. At the end of your turn when you reach your destination you can play cards from your hand that are playable at that location, so if you are at a dragons' lair you can play some artifact that you "found" at the site and play it from you hand into play with one of your characters. If you are at a village you can play a faction from your hand and try to convinve them to join the good side and fight against Sauron.
The purpose of the game is to prepare for the war against Sauron, y ou do this by collecting powerful items like Palantirs, Weapons etc, and by recruiting factions and allies, you do this by going to their home site and convincing them.
Meanwhile your oponent is trying to slow you down with the eveil part of his deck while doing the same in hisown turn. He might throw creatures at you, or bring up a snowstorm, or throw a treacherous river crossing in your way, try to lure one of your characters away from your quest with corruption, a dwarf might get too greedy to give his items away for the war effort, an elf might get lost in the wilderness etc
Very detailed game faithful to the writings of Tolkien, each game is like a naratave, a whole new story in the tolkien universe. Great game. It went through lots of expansions before it was finally stopped. Ebay is the most reliable place to get it in australia, tho there are fans of the game who run little mail order businesses, they sell single cards, or decks etc.
Ive got enough cards of this game to make a few decks if anyone wants to see what it is like oneday.

Will do. Its a great game, a little daunting at first, unless the decks are simple, but I suppose since you are MTG veterans you'll be one step up on where I was when i started. Man!, tapping was like the thoery of relativity for me at first, I just didn't get it! I'lll bring a folder of cards so you guys can have a flick through and a couple of simple decks for an exhibition game. If you get into it we can have a hunt for some of the stuff online or ebay etc and all go in and split a full box of blisters or whatever if we can find it and combine on postage etc. You can easily play without any of the uncommons or rares, its just a matter of the rares being uber cool stuff like Nazgul you can play on your oponents, really strong characters like Elrond and valuable things like the one ring. I got lucky, the One Ring was in my very first box I opened as a random rare! There's even one variant where one person can play as heros like aragorn and gandalf, and they other person plays as evil, with peroiple like Grima, Orcs and even Nazgul! And then if you are both at the same location you get company on company combat! You guys aren't selling stuff yet huh? (ie magic cards)

cool, so what's the nomenclature of the theme decks you have? I found the magic site very informative about what's in each one, might have a scry around there and see which one you carry I like the best.

oh theres so many decks that i'd put there to be my fav. right up there is my gobbo deck. based around smacking the opponent around as soon as possible, meanin first turn raging goblin for the 1st point of damage schmack down! then it gets crazy from there. have by fourth turn a small horde of gobbos out and start beating you down. then comes out the soul foundrys, then it gets mental. i'll sent wave upon wave of my best gobbos to you and if that dont work, i fling them at you with the siege-gang commander, or play savage beating.
another deck right up there is my 'unless' deck. basically where i play a card and you choose whats gonna happen. its great!! i do no nothing while you whitle your own life total down through bad choices.
now i have the best multiplayer deck when i was playing. wasn't hard to put me back a few turns by taking out the right pieces, but soo much of it didnt rely on 1 card. everything interacted with each other, thus making it hard in the long run to stop me winning. red/blue/black deck, something around 100 cards i think it used to be. had to remake it cos it was pulled apart, and now its slimmer than before i think.
then theres clerics, ninjas, orzhov and so many many more
