Today we enjoyed our first session of Warhammer Quest as a new group and pretty much played straight from the box. There were 2 veterans playing and 1 newbie which proved to be an interesting group (especially as the newbie was half.... tipsy...)
A Barbarian (Ash), Elf (Calicojack), Wizard (Ash) and Dwarf (majordodo) made up the adventuring party.
The first deep was a 'Rescue the Prisoners' adventure using the Fighting Pit Objective Room. Some Skaven had abducted 20 odd captives from a town the heroes were visiting and those same heroes were tasked with bringing them back.
The first revealed room was a forked corridoor forcing the party to make a rather hard decision. As WQ can be mercilessly unforgiving for first quest adventurers choosing the wrong path could be hazardous.
'Hook it left' was the cry from Calicos Elf so thats exactly what the party did. For those not in the know Calicojacks rule of thumb is to always hook it left so really there was no decision to be made.
The party 'hooked it left' and after slashing their way through groups of Spiders and snotlings they found their objective; the Fighting Pit!
12 giant bats, 6 Skaven and a Minotaur barred their way. The dwarf was the first and only warrior to step into the room upon its revealing so spent a turn battling everything within reach and being bought close to deaths door. The Wizard Cast a Pit of Despair Spell killing too skaven and blocking the Minotaur progress towards the warriors.
After 3 turns of combat and another event being drawn due to a bad power roll on the wizards part the party had only the Minotaur and Skaven on the other side of the Pit of Despair to take care of.
In great WQ tradition a rule was made up on the spot and the wizard was able to dispel the Pit of Despair allowing the party access to the left over beasties.
The Dwarf laid into the minotaur as the barbarian and wizard made short work of the skaven. The minotaurs life was draining fast as it pummelled the dwarf senseless. The dwarf came too with the aid of the elfs healing potion and attacked....
Leaving the minotaur on 2 wounds which the elf quickly plucked away with her bow string scoring the 440GP for herself.
After gathering theor senses, rescuing the prisoners of which the dwarf did best (and downing more drink) the party agreed to make their way to the closest city. However, on the way they came to a small settlement damaged by a storm and the adventurers agreed to help out and bunked in to make a few purchases and visit the various establishments.
Both the Barbarian and Elf lost large sums of money to a rather devious Barbarian named Ragnar the Terrible. He offered them a nice trinket that would make them invulnerable and very lucky... the poor fools were gullible enough to pay and were duped... each down 500GP
Afterwards the Barbarian drunken got himself tattooed but due to a communication error, possibly on account of ale, rather then getting a tribute to his heroics in battle he ended up with the words 'Mitey Worrier'.
All the while the Dwarf was tearing off arms in an arm wrestling contest giving him the adoration (and fear) of the town. Still he was able to buy a shield a half price due to his exploits.
On one of the folliwing days the Dwarf and Elf both managed to adopt stray puppies and the Wizard was accused of witchcraft and ejected from the settlement.
Following the wizards lead the party thought it was time they left...
Deep 2
Return the Crown!
A crown had been 'stolen' from the count of Heldengrad apparetnyl by the dwarves and unless it was returned all trading between the two nations would cease and undoubtedly war would follow. Not wanting any part of these events the Dwarf King allows the warriors (and one worrier) to venture into the long forgotten tunnels under his kingdom to retrieve it.
The party started off in a long unused cellar and opened the door to be greeted by..... a forked corridoor!
"Hook it left" was once again cried and that is exactly where the party went.
It was not long till the party ventured into a room containing a chest sealed with chains and locks. The chest also carried the seal of Heldengrad!
Obviously the location of the long lost Crown but the party soon learned that there was no way to open it without the right key.
The party continued into the dark. Soon someone yelled out contact and the elf behind the barbarian swore... she had fallen into a pit trap, cunningly hidden in the floor.
Luckily the dwarf still had his trusty rope and jelped the elf out of that mischief. They turned to find the barbarian covered in scorpions fighting for his life!
The barbarian crunched and crushed the little bastards till he was free. But this would only be the start of his nightmare.
The adventurers once again battled through waves of enemies until they came upon a large chamber with a tomb set in the middle. Surrounding the tomb was a large contigent of greenskins.
'Time to power up' yelled the wizard and POOF!
Out of the shadows poured a large number of Skaven and a very angry minotaur.
'The minotaur is mine' yelled the dwarf who got stuck into it fast.
The Barbarian, wizard and Elf all took turns at fighting the smaller creatures giving the dwarf his wish. It felt like aeons as they hacked and slashed their way through greenskin and skaven alike.
Meanwhile the dwarf had his hands full with the minotaur but was starting to get the upper hand... until the elf turned around and took its remaining life and for the second time in as many dungeons stole 440GP's off the dwarf.
'WENCH!' the orange headed dwarf replied as the elf turned around and dispatched the last of the greenskins.
The key to the chest was found and the party returned to the chest and recovered the crown and a few other magical items such as a ring that could momentarily stop time and other knick knacks.
All agreed to head straight for a city to access some specialty stores but alas it was not to be as the plains were once again swept by a storm and the party through the goodness of their heart stopped to help a small village.
This time it was the dwarfs turn to get tattooed and he did not do any better than the barbarians tragic mispelling 'Dwarf Minor' was tatooed across his bicep.
The elf managed to purchase some furs to help protect herself and the Wizard against all odds managed to get entangled in a fighting pit round against some wolverines (he quickly made a break for it loosing some money in the process.
The start of Mitey Worrier the Barbarians night was looking up as he destroyed all opponents in arm wrestling and was hence treated to a relaxing spa (and gained +1 to his maximum wounds woooo!) But the good soon tunred to bad as he was challenged to a duel and quickly dispatched by a epee piercing his heart.
Good night Sweet Mitey Worrier

Who will make up the 4th spot in the party?
Wil Mitey Worriers death be avenged?
Will the Dwarf Minor ever be again let into a drinking establishment?
