New Years Resolutions

I am not usually one for making a new years resolution but upon finding a large selection of 40k Orks sitting in various boxes I figured now would be the best time to start working on them.

Even better to make it a new years resolution to do so.

Has anyone else made a new years resolution in regards to painting/modelling?

and once you have told us all about what it is maybe you can make a modelling diary about it?

I have lots of Orks. I want to see said orks completed.

After going through them tonight I have a plan that will allow me to conquer my grey mountain of unassembled orks. My new years resolution is to get ALL of these greenskins onto the table and painted to tabletop standard.

I have a average sized army of Deffskulls that I will be adding to with the following:
15 Lootas
20 more Boyz
Looted Wagon
20 Grotz
4 more nobz
1 deffdredd
3 kans

Next is my Goff Army made up of:
120 boyz
20 nobz
20 grotz
1 warboss
ghazghull


Then my kult of speed:
24 boyz
2 trukks
1 warboss on bike
8 nobz on bikes
9 boyz on bikes
5 deffcoptas

Now the numbers may seem weird and some may say thats some odd army styles I have going but these are the models I have in my collection, still in bits, that need to find home in the various klans. There are more models that are sitting around the place in bits (including another stompa which is pretty much untouched)

A lot of the models are from Black Reach so ill be making a few conversions along the way as well as buying another 2 boxes of boyz and another of nobz to help break up the dupltication in the models.

Oh, I forgot to mention my Kult of Speed will be snow themed with skidoos replacing the bikes and all other themed goodness.

Stil not sure where i am going to place my Vulcha Skwad either.

I have a big year of modelling ahead of me.....

(misscounted, I am about 20 boyz short of what I put up here but thats very easily remedied

No new year resolutions, but I have picked up the brush again after a 3 month unplanned break...got the bug again.
Last week I knocked up the bir terrain piece.
Currently working on a Flames of War MMG carrier platoon; picked them up from the 'deck yesterday and have completely assembled them already, now just need a splash of paint.

You should get a few of those mini universal carriers that you posted in that video. Those would look great on the table!

That's actually what the MMG carriers are: 1 command troop carrier plus 4 armed with Vickers (ROF 6 stationary, ROF 3 when moving)...looking forward to playing these

oops...forgot to mention the recce platoon that my Aussies have: 3 carriers with hull mount MG (can be upgraded with a BOYS AT rifle, or better yet, .50 cal MG. Very handy little unit & somewhat annoying to opponents

1: Finish 1 army, 1 box at a time. Meaning no buying anything until I've assembled and painted the last batch(of course I'm starting a new army though, lol).

Using magnets is much more cost effective and allows you to tailor your force just that little bit more.

Well I've decided that I won't start a new army this year, just buy stuff for armies I already have. No new armies. No sir.

No new armies seem to be a theme for a lot of people that I know. Unfortunately the pull of a cool new rule book/ army book, miniature or range seems to destroy that notion. I for one would finally like to do the Nid army I have dreamed about for a while but with so many unassembled miniatures its hard to make that call. I guess we shall see what will win; common sense or the pull of cool new shinies!

I have gaming buddies pushing me to get a Spanish army and a Spanish fleet for Napoleonics games. I'm resisiting. The cost is helping me resisit.

ooh, napoleanics. I haqve wanted to get into historical/ancients more but was thinking more of Romans and Dacians. I have been looking at the Wargames Miniatures stuff and their plastic kits are looking pretty good.

See now look what you have done, you have me thinking about other things which is dangerous to my resolution!

Well then you need to get a Perry's confederate civil war army so we can battle it out. Or stay strong brother.

Do not tempt me.... Those miniatures are great. The Perrys are still going strong. If I bought those minis I would also have to get that sweet looking house they have available. That thing looks sweet.

But still got so many minis... I still have half of my FOW to paint!
