WAAAGH!!!


A very apt title for this diary.

As you may have read in the new years resolutions thread in the 'painting, modelling and terrain' board I have a large number of partly and unassembled ork models at my disposal. I intend to utilise all these models and build and paint each and every single one of them. They will be painted to fit specific Ork Klans and each Klan will hopefully form a decent sized army in itself... aswell as belonging to a massive Ork Horde!

I have around 10,000pts of Orcs for Fantasy and I aim to have atleast that for 40K by the time I am done. I am more than half way there already with my Death Skulls and Stompas (all 4 of them with a 5th on the way). Would be awesome to field the lot when they are finished against a willing and crazy opponent.

We will see...


So far I have an average sized Death Skulls army and this will be the first thing I add to. At the moment it is mainly made up of Boyz, Nobz and Deffkoptas. This makes it a not very typical Death skull army as it contains NO Lootas or Looted Wagons!?!

Aside from these two unit entry types being thematically suited for the Death Skull Klan they can also be very dangerous to the enemy (ask anyone who has encountered Draconiss Loota army... very painful indeed). Now I usually do not make an army to be tooled up for a competitive edge but Lootas and Wagons are something that should be a must in Death Skull armies.

So first to be completed will be the 15 unit strong Lootas with a mek with rokkit launcha (maybe increase this to 2 models allowing)

Next will be the looted Wagon. This will not be used as a transport in any way and as such will be made as shooty as possible with the addition of a Boomgun and a few Big Shootas. Upgrades are undecided as yet.

Next will be another 20 strong unit of Boyz. These will probably be upgraded to Ard Boyz to represent all the extra stuff they have snatches from their enemies so you will see a few odd pieces of Marine, Chaos and maybe a tau shoulder pad or two thrown in there along with all the typical chunky armour plates and stuff.

Along with the above I need to finish my Deff Dredd, 2 Kans and another 4 Nobs to fill out my two nobz units to capacity. I also have 15 grots to complete for taking objectives.

Well that should keep me busy for a few months. Lets see how I go!

Ill make a start cleaning up all the pieces for my Lootas and may post a pic of the mess that is my unassembled collection of Orks (and a pic or two of my Death Skull army as it stands today)

Lootas Begun

Sorry no photos this time as its been rather hectic around here for the past 3 days. Fortunately it was not so hectic that I could not get some of these orks out of the way!

Some of you may recall that I got a really good deal on some orks from a certain individual down Renmark way. A good deal it was with something like $350 worth of Orks for $60. Unfortunately this person had started to assemble his miniatures and the quality of the assembly left a lot to be desired.

Too much glue or not enough glue. Mould lines not scraped. Some poses were downright dodgy. I had a lot of repair work to do. Still it was a good deal.

First thing was to clean up the models that had already been put together. Not an easy task as these are lootas and as such they have some rather large guns which get in the way. I cleaned them up as best as I could given the circumstances.

Next I got to assemble a few. As usual I cleaned the components before assembly which saves all sorts of time in the long run and makes the activity go a lot smoother.

I did not affix them to their bases and those that were already affixed were cut, snipped or snapped off. I like my figures to look like they are standing ON the ground not IN it.

I prepared the bases as I have done for the rest of my Death Skulls meaning lots of scattered battle waste and sand/rocks. This was sealed with watered down PVA.

Last night I got to undercoat the lot and all are ready to start be painted early next week.

The Unassembled Horde
and some real life ork currency!

Here are a few pics of the 'Raw Resource' aka unassembled Orks. The sprue's in the shot are 95% untouched and all the clipped out stuff are ready to rock. Theres a lot of cleaning to do there!

The bikes and Stompa are sitting in the games room still being guarded by my ramshackle Ork Looted Wagon and my 4 Stompas. Makes me proud.

Now that the heat wave is broken over here I can finally start painting these Lootas I have sitting here, mocking me. These will be painted in the same style as my existing army ie. very slap dash but serviceable.

Oh and looky what my original test model Ork has found. Real life ork currency!
That toof is so large he might be able to get himself a flash Kannon and some Mega Armour!
