Well now I have done it!
By putting this on here it means I now have to commit to it and get some work done on it. It seems to work for me these diaries. Tale of 40K Gamers got me to complete a good amount of painting (1500pts of Orks) My 'Apocalypse Stuff Diary' has got me to do a good amount of work on my Apocalypse stuff (Still on going) So this should get me to complete, or make good head way on my FOW.
All I know is that at the moment I have a legal 750pt army of Tanks. They are mostly Shermans with a few M10's thrown in (apparently they can blow tanks up!). I still have yet to fully understand what it is that I have but I do know what color I need to paint them which is all I need at this stage.
This should be a good yet strange journey for me and it will be interesting in what I learn along the way.
Anyways, as always your comments will act as encouragement so bring them on!

There are a few fully painted armies around the store. FOWnut has a really nice looking Australian army and Draconis has heaps of painted minis. But an all painted Tank army... thats my goal!

Today I got the main armor color on 3 of my Shermans completed. 3 watery coats of Brown Violet and I now have a nice deep greeny color. Next will be a few highlights. I am debating how I will be doing that as I am torn between a straight drybrush or a manual controlled technique.
What I think is best for me to do is get a fully completed test model done to see the finished product and whether I will like that or not.
Tomorrow I will be spending the afternoon cleaning and constructing the remainder of my tanks and do a spot of reading on the history and all the additional fluff of my army.

Very appropriate that you put that in this diary.
Today I am taking down my homemade paint station to the store. Holds all my stuff on it and will make clean up of where I am working when I have finished for the day much easier. The station is pretty much made out of scrap MDF but I have plans for a better station to be built very soon.

Not as yet sorry. Once again my computer is full so I need to find a few files which I can delete or transfer... But I need to find my USB key! Today I finished cleaning, assembling and undercoating another 5 Shermans, one with a dozer attachment. Tomorrow I will have assembled my M10 Tank Destroyer Squad and have everything basecoated so it will start to look nice. Still unsure of what I will be doing to them next but the hulls need highlighting then I can start hitting up the tracks etc. This is actually moving along a fair bit faster then I thought but I guess thats due to my use of a Citadel Tank Brush and watered down paint making application so easy

Do any of you good FOW hobbyists have a link to tutorials on painting US armor? Would be of great help.

Well here are the first photos. Nothing spectacular besides the fact that I have actually started on them and this is the proof! What you can see is a bunch of Shermans that have been base coated in Velejo Color 'Brown Violet' which I got in my US army paint set. I did not just go ahead and assemble the miniatures straight out of the box I first carefully cleaned all the components and washed everything in luke warm soapy water to get all of the left over release agents from the casting processes. I used my handy cleaning toothbrush which I bought for this specific purpose. I lightly scrubbed each part twice with the soapy water then twice again with plain water (to get rid of the residual film of soap. Then it was just a matter of drying them in a towel before undercoating. Now I con not tell you enough not to use toilet paper or tissues to place your miniatures on to dry as the tissue will stick to the various components then you have to rinse again.... I learned this the hard way of course.... Anyways enough of my ranting. Here are some pics: I would love to say something along the lines of 'the beginning of suad blah blah from company something' but I would have no idea what I am talking about so it would just be a lie... Anti Tank Tanks..... they blow up Haydens Tigers (or they will soon enough...)

Some pics for you: Here is what I have done so far paint wise: Black Undercoat Spray (GW) 3-4 watered down layers of Brown Violet (Val) Green Grey Dry Brush (Val) Wash of Gryphonne Sepia Wash (GW) Brown Violet Light Dry Brush (Val) I went a little further on the Jeep, experimenting on the colors for the wheels: I may hit them with a Badab Black or Devlan Mud Wash to darken the tires down a bit but so far I am pretty happy with how everything is going. Its fast, easy and to me thats more important than display quality as it means I will actually get this done!

Well I now have a heap more stuff including Stuarts, More Tank Destroyers, More Shermans, some m12's?, a Grasshopper and ome artillery bits... I have no idea what everything is called!
Anyways about 90% of that has been completed to the ame standard as the pics above and it now comes to a total of 1585pts.
Next week I will be filling out all the tank units to their maximum size and hopefully have everything pretty much painted so I can start gaming!
Pics soon I promise....
