Finally a picture update on my progress! I took a break from painting tanks all of the time and had a go at painting some of the infantry and artillery teams etc. I had thought that I was going to hate this as the pieces are so small and fidgety to hold but it turns out it was probably more fun than painting the tanks! Its really good to see the little guys take shape with a few blobs of paint. Now I may not be able to paint as well as some of you but I reckon things are starting to look really cool. I may even prefer painting this stuff to the larger scale stuff (except larger scale vehicle of course  )    (still need to add a chart or something to this one. Some of the guys at the club reckon a few hands of cards would be neat..) I will detail exactly how I painted these next time but to gve you the gist I applied the colors as a block on each of the parts, no highlighting or leaving black lines. I then just gave them a wash of Gryphonne Sepia. simple as that. Oh, they were painted on the bases as well. Here is how the army is looking so far:  At the moment I have an armored Rifle Platoon sitting next to me ready to be assembled. Once I have what you see in the photo completed I'll be ready for a game of two. Any takers? |

Except a US Tank Company can't have a 105mm battery, and take more Stuarts and get more Shermans and get some Sherman (76)s.

Ahhh, Cmon resident FOW promoter guy, where were you on that one? ;D.... Looks like I'll be building another force to use them (and no, not a cunning plan to get me to do so...) +1 Karma for pointing out the douche-iness.... (Cavalry Recon coming up which is ok as all i need to do is buy a few M8's and 2 cav rec platoons)
Anyhoo... 76's on the way (sitting on layby). More Stuarts def coming (another 7 to be exact) and another 4 shermans at least. Looks like i'll need to buy me some priests too
And now to rename the diary....
By the way when are you up here next?

Scratch the Cav idea. Got enough vehicles etc....
I reckon I'll do up a Rifle Company as the next army I build up. Says in Fortress Europe that it can field a Field Artillery Battery or two as Div Support. Sound right Stu?
This means that when we can play a Total War game (from the Firestorm Book) I can get a good mix up of armor and foot sloggers. Would def make for a pretty picture. Just means my plans for a Russian Tank Army will be going on hold for a while as I hate having stuff painted and not being able to use it....
Anyways the next time the Dice and Deck orders some FOW stock I'll be needing a few Priests (6) and all the other stuff that goes with them....

Got enough vehicles?! What?! You can never have enough vehicles for the Fightin' Heroes. I'm really keen to get my Cav recon up and running, need another 10 Greyhounds and accompanying jeeps yet. Priests are definately the go, get 12.A US Rifle Company is surprisingly awesome too, you can cram sooooo much stuff into 1750.
By the way you CAN actually field a 105mm Battery with a tank company if you use the Cobra book. Which I remembered last night. After I posted. And turned my computer off. And went to bed.

Are you reading Festung Europa or the far superior Fortress Europe? You can field 3 105mm batteries (upgrading one to 155's or an Armoured field battery or SP 155's) plus a 6 gun cannon platoon. So you can put 20 guns on the table. Mmmm.
Got a bunch of holidays in June so I reckon I can waste...uhh...I mean spend a few days up your way

Fortress is what I am reading. So can I or can i not use the guns with all my tanks?
As for enough tanks... Well Have been considdering making every unit type from the Fortress Europe for the yanks so I guess that makes for a few tanks. Want to finish off the Tank Company with all options then move onto infantry platoons.

started to paint some stuff for Blitzkreig commander today but could not help myself and instead of just assembling the Rifle teams I assembled my entire Armored Rifle Company.

Need pics of lil' fellas... Hurry up ;D haha, this stuff is like porn to you isn't it? ;D Just finished painting one stand of Riflemen. They are painted identically to the stuff I have already painted. It's beena pain in the ass painting in this warmth and humidity. Normally I like to paint in batches of 5 stands but am limited to the one as otherwise tha paint dries too quick on my palette! I should have some Silflor within the week so when thats applied i'll post some piccies (check my post in the painting board so you can help me decide what colors of silflor to get!) |
