It an older Table top game by Steve Jackson Games. The basic concept of the game is to design & build a car, motor bike, trike, bus, truck, boat, hovercraft or helicopters & do battle on the highways, city's & even purpose built arenas in the post oil states of America in the mid 2000 ( just think of "MAD MAX" on a table top).
Ash has expressed an interest in trying the game so I have decided to bring it to the D&D on friday for people to have a look at & will even try to play a game using the quick start rules for people to get a taste of.
The game can even be expanded into a campaign with a fully developed arena auto duel circuit as many other people have done so before( do a search & see how many clubs there are that run their own series)
All are welcome to have a look & see if it may be your cup of tea.

Oh, Oh, Oh, Me, Me, Me! I WANNA PLAY! Damnit... Anyone got 500 odd dollars for airfares this weekend? My set has collected dust since moving... (Well, since well before moving actually ) If you're going to play an arena campaign, scale it up to Carwars 3X - It's great fun modding matchbox cars with little guns n stuff, the new editions of carwars are designed for that scale anyway! The maps and little counters are better for tearing up the city blocks though. Wish I could find the perl scripts I wrote ages ago to speed things up... I had a movement calculator as well as a crash damage calculator. Type in the speeds, choose the colision type, and hit the go button, there's yer damage. Try it people, it's a lot of bookkeeping at first, but ya get used to it and it flows reasonably well after a couple of games.

Oh, I plan on making a beast of a car...
Volkswagon... definately volkswagon, with guns.... as many guns as poss...
Can you dynamite fit your car for the inevitable 'im nearly dead may aswell just gun it into someone else and hit the trigger...)
Can you fit it with a dead man switch??
Which reminds me...
Every morning when i get uo theres a monkey on the table take a stick, knock it off Pop goes the weasle!
(The weasle was also fitted with a dead mans switch, hence the pop)

IIRC, You can pack it full of explosives, yes... be warned, making a car is harder than it sounds - Space and weight are very limited - If you want lots of guns, you'll have to skimp on armour, or you'll wind up with a pillbox going nowhere fast. I'd seriously recommend playing the first couple of games with a $5k or $10k limit and use prebuilt cars from the book (Or net, there's loads of designs on the net...).

Tanks are available and fun to play but they start at around $1200000 The cars start at about $5000 Ash had a quick read through of the rules last night and was amazed by the option available when building a vehicle and designing your character or even your team. We will definitely try to hove a game tomorrow (Saturday), probably using $10000 as a price limit.

Yay!! My Car Wars books that I ordered from "Steve Jackson Games" arrived today . (Que giggling like a little school girl that has just been given the keys to the local candy store.) Have lots of reading to do tonight so I can try to get it down to the store tomorrow night four a test smash. (if you had seen any of the older rules games we played you will understand that adjective.)

By the way, how much did the set cost you? And is it all top notch quality?
