The News part is this: Warhammer 8th ed is due to be released in the second half of this year.
Now for the rumours!
The starter box will contain Skaven and High Elves. Contents including plastic pegasus, plastic skaven weapons teams, plastic terrain. Also the usual core choices and a hero or two for each army.
There are quite a few rules changes and the biggest rumour so far is how combat is sorted. No longer will combat get bogged down over many turns. It has been stated from different sources that combat will now be resolved in one turn. Turns for attacking alternate until one side is wiped out or fleeing.
Lapping around will see a comeback. I would say this is poor form but if the above rumour about combat is true then it makes sense to me.
Magic is getting a bot of a facelift with rules changes in regards to misfires and irresistable force. Irresistable force will have a drawback and misfires will be more harsh but harder to come by.
Army building will revert back to the old percentages system; 25% heroes, 50%min core etc.
It will be less of a game of geometry with movement being handled differently.

New Warhammer: almost here!Since we announced the new edition of Warhammer back in April, the excitement has been slowly building. Across the land hobbyists have begun gathering their forces in preparation of the mighty battles that lie ahead; in hushed whispers they've talked about what might lie within the 528-pages of the new Warhammer rulebook. Well prepare to ramp your excitement up a notch - Warhammer will be available to advance order from the 15th of June. Inspired by the clockwork creations of the engineers of Altdorf, we've today added a swish countdown clock to games-workshop.com, so you'll know exactly how many minutes and seconds to go before you can order your copy. To thank you for subscribing to our newsletter (these images won't be shown anywhere else!) we thought we'd give you a sneak peek inside the new book. And don't forget that June's issue of White Dwarf is out this weekend and contains more exclusive information and pictures from the new Warhammer rulebook. Enjoy. So get to your local stockist and harass them for more info. Steve is there a preferred stockist conference invite sent out yet?

(that'd be a no I guess ) I'd say I'd be well and truly out of favour with em' at the moment <Note to self> Don't leave the PC on when Bega's in the room and you're trying to controll two five year olds... aka Simpson and Thyler ;D
