Mildura Club name change?

I'd like to get a discussion started around the name of the "club". It's been mentioned to me that maybe the "Mildura Waaagh!!!" isn't the best name for our club. I'm interested in getting people's thoughts and opinions on this. If enough people wanna change it, we can put it out there and get suggestions on possible new names and put it to a vote.

If you're reading this, sorry Scott! I heard you were quite fond of the title!

In other news, as a part of our *need* to recruit new members and just generally get more people along to Monday nights (we had just 3 there last night!), i'm looking into getting us listed in the free ad part of one of the local rags, and even a listing in the White Dwarf club directory.

Even though I am not part of the club or even live in Victoria I think a club name change is definitely a good idea. A clubs name should be all inclusive of the hobby and the games they participate in. Waaagh always designated that the name was Orc related and hence the club was either dominated by Orc players or had a strong Orc theme.

I think it will also serve to fortify the fact that the club is under new management and a new era for gaming in Mildura has been born!

Ok, well there hasn't been any comment on this so far. I'm going to put forward one idea for a new name...

"The Mildura Table-top Games Club" - this would be general enough to indicate we don't just play wargames, but boardgames and roleplaying games too.

We really do need to recruit some new blood at this stage. I'm not willing to try putting ads up if we're going to go and change the name in a month or two. It will have to wait until after we've settled on a new name.

Anyway, just one idea to try and get the ball rolling.

Well I dunno what the reciepts for the hall say since ive left, but we were on the books as the mildura table top gaming group.
I was fond of the name, but I chose it because I couldnt get much of a discussion going and couldnt think of anything better.

Wow! I post a discussion and no one comments for a month (bar Ash). I don't check the forums for a week, and suddenly people post! Ha!

Anyway, at least we have the ball rolling. I like the sound of Sunraysia Gaming Club, mostly because S.G.C reminds me of Star Gate ;-) Geekdom! Oh, and it sounds good. I also like Sunrayisa Tabletop Gamers too.

Returning to this issue after a long absence...

I like the sounds of 'Sunraysia Tabletop Gamers' myself, as it encompasses our local area and not just Mildura, the breadth of games we play (not just wargames per se) and doesn't imply we're a gambling club!

I'd also very much prefer to avoid using the word "club" coz that implies we're organised with paid memberships an executive committee and so forth - which we don't have.

We'll be losing several members next year and i'd like to do a little advertising to promote our Monday night gatherings, so a new club name would be great to help achieve this.

We have a few suggestions for possible names. I'll leave this thread open for another week then we can have a vote on a name... i'm also happy to be an evil dictator and make the call myself ;-D
