13th Company Space Wolves.

Alrighty, you all know how bad I am at sticking to one army, so I've chosen one that allows me to paint and model pieces from two armies into one, Chaos+Space Wolves (2 of the coolest looking armies out there). By that I am in no way saying that the 13th Company are followers of Chaos.

The army cannot include any vehicles, nor can it include much in the way of long range fire support (only the one choice, and quite frankly, shooting is for pansies). This really limits my choices and in addition i have to include 1 HQ for every 750 points in the list, which makes for 3. It will be built around a core force of Grey Slayers, supported by elite close combat squads.

The army list I have in mind:

Wolf Lord (bits of archaon and the chaos terminator lord)
Rune Priest (just the rune priest model)
Wolf Priest (SM commander with SW upgrades)
5 Wulfen (wulfen miniatures if i can get a hold of them, or they'll be converted from assault marines and other various bits)
10 Storm Claws
3x 10 Grey Slayers (both of these will be constructed from a combination of the grey hunters and the chaos marines box sets)
10 Fenrisian Wolves (vampire counts dire wolves)

The first month will see me starting on 2 of my Grey Slayers squads and my Wolf Priest.

I'll add pics as i get them and will also be filling in some background for this particular war band.

Sounds awsome, may i suggest if you dont already have the wolves lying around, you can grab a blister of just 6 wolves. Its what im planning on doing for my Space Wolves. The Wulfen ive seen on ebay have been going for around 40 - 50 with postage, give or take ofcourse. Pity you cant get the actual sets online anymore, would have made things hell easier, if less unique looking.
And yeah.. the 3 HQ choices thing is a bitch, the extra 300pts pretty much just buys you a HQ choice, depending on how nuts you go with upgrades, being new i still dont know whether thats good or bad =/

Ok, picture time!

heres a stage by stage of how i've done done my bases.
i used the resin pieces from the 40k basing kit

then leveled out the base with some filler

and finally glued on some slate.


And here we have my test miniature.

Looks good, i like the ark angel helmet at his feet hehehe. Although i have to say if it wasnt for the chaos leg bit id think it was a crimson fist marine.

Havent added anything for a while, so i'll chuck up a small update till I get some pics.

So far I've put together all of this months minis (20 greyhunters+Wolfpriest) and I've painted the wolfpriest. As it looks, I'm going to be finishing more than what I've had planned for this month, so I might end up with a rather large army compared to what i was expecting.
