By that title you should be able to figure out that I'm planning on painting my American Civil War Union army. To break up the monotony of painting sky blue pants and dark blue shirts I'm going to break up the painting by doing a box of infantry then an artillery piece or cavalry. I bought the entire army from Perry miniarures, if you haven't checked out the gods of sculpting site then shame on you, here's a link www.perry-miniatures.com/index2.html. Their Napoleonic range is damn tempting after this which is odd cause I have little to no interest in the Napoleonic wars.

Just recently a wholesaler sent a catalogue to the store and their ranges included the perry stuff. I can not believe they have managed to produce such high quality miniatures at such an affordable price! The sculpts are really really nice indeed. It is something I would definately be getting into down the line but I have so much that I want to do in the meantime So I shall live vicariously through you by keeping an eye on your diary

Luckily with a thread title like I made up I can change which particular yanks I will do. I really want to start on the Civil War figures but I'm in FoW US painting phase at the moment, so maybe I'll mix up my painting by doing some of both thereby finishing neither army. Woo.

Are the perry miniatures plastic or metal?

Spose I should do a bit of an update report. I've cleaned off and undercoated a box of Union infantry. They want to be painted but I'm really enjoying painting my FoW yanks, so I'll post photos of their progress hopefully on the weekend.

Update time! HQ Combat Platoon AT Platoon Armored Recon Platoon That's 500 points exactly so far, just have to paint another combat platoon and i'm done for the 600 points although I've got an urge to paint my Engineer Platoon so I'll probably do that next. Which is good cause that'll mean I can take out the AT Platoon cause that's useless against infantry. I will add grass before anybody says anything, I'm just deciding on what is the best to use. Several other people swear by the silfor tufts but I'm not sure for these guys. Suggestions?

Nice work. You are a madman having picked out the individual pouches etc. I just bulk painted then washed over them....
I just go for GW static grass (scorched i think i used...)

Yeah I was thinking the gw scorched grass was a winner. By the way these look much better in the flesh.

They're looking great there, big fella! Looks like you've got a good handle on the blacklining technique at 15mm. That grass will finish the bases off nicely too.

Patience and a good brush are the key.

Not much of an update unfortunately, was a bit slack last week. Half way through a platoon of Engineers and that's about it. Been looking at some Infinity figures lately, might pick some up when I get to the States.

Infinity looks like an awesome set of rules and the figures are absolutely brilliant! Which faction takes your fancy the most?

That would have to be the Ariadna with the Haqqislam a close second. Just love the futuristic look with the current day camo on the Ariadna figures. The rules are available for download on their site for free, uses a d20 system which is a breath of fresh air.

I reckon I still have the rules somewhere on megs laptop.... Never actually read them though. Downloaded them during a time when I was crying out for another system to play....
Now, when you say d20 do you mean a d20 system... or THE d20 system (DnD)?
I am hoping for the former and not the later.
