GG Tournaments, are you happy with them?

The first tournament was a great success and with the next one coming at us in about one months time I think it's time to see if people are happy with the tournament experience so far. These tournaments are strictly there for you guys and myself to have fun. There is no obligation to anyone or anything else besides the $2 which makes up part of you tournament entry going to Movienights for the use of the space.

So here are the things I would like to know from you guys:

Are you happy with the frequency of a tournament being run every two months?

Are you a fan of recieving Dog tags for your participation?

Do you want more for getting in the top 3 other than a place on the perp trophy and color coded dogtasg silencer (this will drive the price up)?

Will 4 games in a one day event constitute a long enough tournament to fairly find the top place getters?

Is the points system too basic (5 solid victory, 4 victory, 3 draw etc etc)?

Is there enough information on these boards prior to a tournament about all things related to the tournament?

Anything else you would like to add?


Here is a final question that will have to be dealt with with the release of the new Fantasy Rulebook:

We will be running Fantasy tournaments soon after the new rulebook is released. Should we keep the two month tournament frequency and alternate between systems or do we run a tournament every month and alternate systems so there is a 40K tournament every two months and a Fantasy tournament every two months?

We can get more gamers from outside the club to make up the numbers for Fantasy tournaments if need be, thats a given so this is more for those at GG who play both systems... are you willing to play in a tournament every month?

I'll chuck in a reply to the last one, mainly cause i'm arm deep in superglue and IG conversions atm. I'd be happy playing a tournament a month either alternating or not it'd be something to look forward to my only concern is with the other 'major' tournaments would it be overloading commitments a little too much? Oh and I like the fun factor at the current GG tournaments, less stress more shenanigans

You are not expected to rock up to every single tournament we will run at GG, far from it. The club has been growing quite well and once we start fully supporting Fantasy I think we will get another influx of gamers rocking up.

Generally speaking I will not chuck a GG tournament on at a time that falls too close to one of the other bigger tournaments. Ill try to keep them atleast 2 weeks apart if possible and at no time will there be bad blood if a member chooses to go to a major tourney over a GG one

As for the second part of your comment Jimm thats the type of tournaments and events we will stick too; fun shenanigans over the over-competitive style ones. Wait till you see whats coming up... we know the next tournament for 40K will be focussed on special/named characters being mandatory in your list but from there... well thats secret squirrel stuff at this stage

I'd stick to 40k every 2 months atleast until the end of the year.. if you ended up with 40k ones 4 months apart then I'd only get to 1 more if I was lucky before I'd most likely end up back in tassie.. which I'll be back from next week..
