Hey guys, just dropped this thread as a place I can upload all my photos when they come in....

The moment of madness that spawned all of this can be credited to Tsar Hagrid many moons ago. It is now upon me and the culmination of it all will be an all infantry IG army based loosely upon the Australian 'Rats of Tobruk'

The plan so far...

I've figured that in a 1500pt all Infantry Army i'll have roughly 130-150 models, so the conversions need to be quick and easy yet visually impacting. After a bit of research into the topic I managed to isolate the particular weapon most likely used and on top of that have found a company that makes normal 28mm WWII models and the like. I'm using a number of items from that particular website as the majority of the conversions and whilst there aren't any really heavy conversion's in mind currently, most of it is straight weapon swaps and additions.

For the standard IG platoons i'm taking the standard Catachan Infantry box sets and adding the following...

Vickers Machine Gun = Heavy Bolter

The Guardsmen you bought in with you previuosly are looking quite nice indeed. I can not wait to see how they turn out!

Well the good news is the first ten man squad is almost finished and two more squads have been ordered with all the trimmings. Only thing missing off the first squad is the melta / flamer arms + weapon, other then that nine others are all based, painted etc i'll post some pics later tonight when I can get the camera to work.

Only the one pic so far due to a crappy camera but should do for the moment...

Just realised how large the pic is and I do apologise for those with lower bandwidth, also duly noted that the mould lines on some of the models are pretty bad

Hey Jimm. Looking good.

About your image size have you thought about getting your images hosted at photobucket.com?

It's free and you can use the settings to automatically modify the image size when you upload..

Yeah I was contemplating it, I figure I can also change the size when I take the actual picture as well but for ease of use etc Photobucket is probably the way to go.

Just another quick update I have purchased (with great glee) one of the forge world griffon heavy mortars to add a nice punch to the army

Looking good there mate. Try giving the flesh areas a wash of gryphon sepia to give them a bit more definition.

Better yet hit it with the Army Painter Strong Tone Wash. Has the same effect as the Sepia wash but will shade your entire model and varnish it aswell in one hit!

Thanks for the heads up guys, i'll have a look into both of those and see what I can do, I was thinking about giving them a flesh wash at somepoint in time cause they are quite bright... Any follow up ideas on where to buy those washes?

Also GOOD NEWS! Two more guard squads + upgrades have arrived including the metal parts for the flamers / meltas and mortar rounds. More pics when I can find the camera...

Well if you go the Gryphonne Sepia Wash you just get it from anywhere that sells GW. Prob not worth it to source overseas for the one pot but if you are ordering some stuff from 'the storm' then chuck it in. Otherwise I suggest Military Hobbies.

The Army Painter stuff can be sourced through War and Peace Games. They have a deal going where you get a starter set consisting of a Quick Shade Wash/Varnish of your choice, a color undercoat of your choice (maybe get flesh?) and the anti shine varnish spray in one bundle. Thats where I got my stuff.

FYI, i haven't ignored this thread, i've just been flat out and barely had a moment to myself. Just a quick update recieved two more box sets of guard and the first FW heavy mortar. Will post before and updates asap.

Right its been a while since i've posted on this thread, quick update.

The first squad is now about 99% done, I did eventually manage to get my hands on a couple GW washes in Gryphon Sepia and Devlan Mud, which many thanks for the suggestions makes a huge difference...

Hopefully going to post new pics sometime in the new year along with the first piece of artillery which is about halfway done...
