Well, I think I've worked out the software (Inkscape - Freely available graphic software...) to use for running a Play By E-Mail round of Carwars... Is anyone actually interested in giving it a shot? It's not everyones cup of tea due to the time it takes for a game, so I'm not too fussed if noone is interested, but I'm willing to give it a shot if theres intrest.
Main thing to note is it's a trial for me too, to see how much effort it is to manage - The round may or may not get finished, depending on the time and effort it takes, and it would be with small cars to keep things simple. If it turns out to be reasonably easy, and people enjoy it, I'll consider ramping up and running more complex games then.
So, Show of hands?

For this round there's no car design or anything, it's just a case of everyone emailing me with what you want to do - Accelerate, turn, fire, bail out, whatever, and I move the counters on the map, make appropriate rolls etc, and post results. You can post more than one phase in advance (IE, acceerate for next two turns, turn left in phase 3, etc) and can use Boolean expressions (IF x turns left, THEN turn right, etc.). It's different to actual tabletop in that you're not rolling dice and the like, so in that sense it seems like less interaction, but on the other hand, you really don't know what the other players are going to do, whereas you can get an idea when you're standing around the table talking, and can plan your moves on what you think the're doing... And when if / when we start designing cars, you can't check the other players sheets to see what the're weilding, so if the've got popup / covered weapons, the first you know is when they fire them!

Awesome, im definately in for that.... Will it all take place via the forum? I'll probably whip up a quick n dirty webpage for it, otherwise the thread will get huge, and moves can be sent via email. Depending on response here, I'm possibly going to ask about on another couple of places I lurk as well... Heck, half the reason for playing PBEM is to play people across the planet, if it's all locals, ya might as well play IRL If theres others involved, webpage will be easiest. Bullsbrook Auto Dueling Association (B.A.D.Ass.) arena has a capacity of 8. (See image :-) ), Might as well fill it!

might be able to force myself to join in too, but what will the turnaround time be? Also, will knowing approximately, oh...let's say, bugger all of the rules cause any great sadness? Just had another thought (pain, pain), what happens if/when I forget to send in instructions? I'm assuming that the vehicles 'continue as per previous phase'? I guess you could do it like in tipping where you given the 'average' eg. most vehicles turned right 90deg, so yours does too ;D ;D

might be able to force myself to join in too, but what will the turnaround time be? Hopefully a day per phase minimum, more if everyone has a longer string of instructions sent to me... A basic understanding would be needed I'd think, you'd need to understand the phase structure at least... Access to a rulebook would be a help to confirm what you want to do is possible - Dave, Draconis, you can help these guys in that respect? Perhaps it's best to leave this round until everyone's had another real-life (tm) game to get a better grip with the rules? Would depend on the situation, and how long everyone had been waiting for you to catch up :-) Hafta decide that one on a case by case basis depending on what was happening.

Well a few of us are now quite reasonably acclimatised with the rules. Another game played lastnight. Everyone died! Noone lived.... Me and Alex last to die. I was on fire, burning dying. He kept speeding up, I slammed on the brakes killing us both! Awesome!
