We would especially like to get some rules for different types of 'power ups' that can be used (think Mario Kart etc)

Since you mentioned Mario Kart, I just have to add - Mario kart Wii is just plain Awesome! I Don't care if the wheel control method is considered sucky by the 'pros', it's still damn good fun!
