If its in the codex its fair game. To prevent uber cheese, why not limit it to one character only.

Not a big fan of "characters" in tournaments. As soon as you include em' a lot of people start designing their armies around them until they become delivery systems... (aka Kruger)  |

But but... ULRIK!!!
I think a good special character gives character to the army itself, and who cares about delivery systems now, with the new rules theyre gunna have to bring more Troops anyway.

special characters shouldn't make a huge difference in the game as they can't have they're weargear changed and generally cost more then they're worth, so bring them on! and let them be.

I personally have never used one, but there is nothing as comical as the look on a players face as his / her urbeur character that is 2/3 of the points of the army transforms into an erratic series of splodges, scorch marks and strange smelling smoke trails under a hail of flashlights. ;D
Truly a master card moment.

Yeah well that wont happen with Ulrik  jokes aside, i unno special characters do tend to be op and expensive, but that said they do look awsome. |

Lol well if i wanted to go all special characters, i only have 3 choices anyway. Although... fielding Ulrik, Logan AND Ragnar sounds like it could be alot of fun...

that's k mjrdodo i got one better then that Commander Farsight with full retinue! ;p
just for you if you don't know what that is? it's between 3 and 9 plus Farsight all in crisis suits!
and just for you i would give them all plasma rifles, fusion blasters and multi-trackers which comes
to just under 800 pts the rest of my army would be fire warriors and a unit of pathfinders that's of course for an 1800 pts battle.
Man i love AP1 and AP2 weapons and they love characters especially when they only need 2's to hit and 2's to wound. A'hem A'hem surprise C*&@#$ ball.

I think you should try it a couple of times and see how people like it, they cant be too unbalanced. Even if you just have a spec character tourney for variety every now and again.

I think in most games its easy enough to make a superpowerful uberlist even without special characters, with them it could be mayhem- not that there is anything wrong with that nessessarily.
Might be fun to have the odd tourney with no restrictions for the special character (except perhaps that these usually magnificent miniatures have a full paint job?!)
