hmm, well there doesn't seem to be an option here to make a poll, guess that's not allowed here, so you'll just have to vote in a post. So I have a few armies I could use in the tournet, each with their pros and cons, some would need some serious work and would be good as it might inspire me to get some painting done, on the otherhand there's the risk of using an incompletely painted force, a) Fully painted eldar army, craftworld Delphi. Lots of jetbikes, falcons, guardians and banshees b) ALmost finished marines, Emporer's Evangelists, lots of troops couple of dreadies and couple of Predators c) Tyranids, Hivefleet Formis, a bit of everything, old miniatures I haven't gamed with for ages that really need some TLC to get them into a cohesive army again. Stu will atest that some need new paintjobs, this could be a huge task, but would be very rewarding- this was my first ever army started just as 3th ed came out about 10 years ago. d) Imperial Guard, Cadian Infantry, infantry squads and heavy weapons platoons and stormtroopers. This is my newest army, its incomplete and has never been into battle, its a work in progress I started abotu 4 or so years ago and its slow and laborious work, but I think it will be a great looking army when its finished. This would take ages to finish, and I'm not sure if 1800 points would be a tenable size force for what I have. so which of these would you most like to see on the table top when the tourney rolls around?

hmm did I mention that the guard are possibly the worst army you could ever choose for a 40k tourney that is undoubtably going to be full of marines and chaos marines and probably by then a 3rd type of marines, its all mortars flamers and grenade launchers! (and obviously flashlights).

I did draw up a nid army around the time of Ash's last 40k tourney, but didn't get around to joining up.
I feel abit bad about having all those bugs there never used, especially when I think how much each of them cost as most of the non troops are metal, the unit of 20 hormagaunts alone was a couple of hundred bucks.
current leaderboard Guard 2 votes Bugs 1 vote Eldar 0 Marines 0 (f**kin' shock that!)

Well what's close to being finished? get that done first then you'll never have to go back to it. Can't be much Eldar left to do surely.

nah the eldar are looking great, not much to do there, could do an 1800 army easy without having to do any work. The Marines are well sorted, jsut a few more recent troops need painting (depending on how screwed the current list is in any new codex). Bugs a fair bit of work, some reconstructions and fixings, plenty of painting, from fresh and repaints. Guard are still very much a work in progress, not sure I even have the minis to field a legal force of any kind, let alone 1800. They are slow going and a bloody tricky paint job as you may recall. a large part of the force is heavy weapons platforms, which I'm not putting together till I have the guys painted, and I haven't quite decided what amount of which weapons to have (AC vs HB vs mortar etc), so that would be a fair challenge, they would look lovely on the table top and would never be competitive in any game, lol.

alrighty I've got my desk inside now, time to unpack some miniatures and start work on some army composition ideas.
