Simon Pegg as Scottie.... B-R-O-K-E And here you can watch the broken trailer: Its available in HD now but really it is not worth it.... About the only good thing is that there are Romulans in it... I will probably still watch it in the hope (however little that it is) that it turns out ok... I'll even eat my own words going to the extent of turning them into little cakes and sandwiches in which to savor my epic fail of wrongness. I am angry.... Why try to reinject it with a new look if you are just going to dumb it down into a kids action movie. Just throw a few vulcans into 'the Phantom Menace' with the use of CGI and you could have gotten the same effect with a lot less cash outlay. Simon Pegg!?!?! What the hell, he may be an OK actor at best when he is just making a mockery of something but that is it. But I had great respect for Scotty.... F*^K YOU RODDENBERRY FOUNDATION! F*^K YOU IN THE EAR!!!!! I really hope they go the way of crewman number 6 (for those who don't know, crewman number 6 did not live long or prosper...) Asses...

It gets better... Eric Bana is the bad guy in the film. Romulan and he looks like a Dark Eldar! (Eric Bana not so bad but as a Romulan?!?!)

So they've made Star Trek worse than it always was? That's quite an achievement.

Well maybe they have made it this way (kids like and 'action movie') to win over the Starwars crowd...

It's gonna be hard to take seriously with that guy from Harold and Kumar in it, but one could still argue that they broke trek when they made Voyager or Enterprise. Goddamn I hate Voyager sooo much, but I didn't actually mind Enterprise....

A recent screening of four sequences totalling about 45 minutes of the new Star Trek movie should give fans of the franchise hope, not only for the film, but for the entire franchise itself.
This sounded good until...
JJ Abrams' directorial efforts have taken the world of Star Trek closer to the world of Star Wars, with fast-paced, almost super-human action sequences(kucking Roddenberries... Trek should be HUMAN!), a 'used' universe of scuffed shuttlecraft and slightly cluttered star ships and sexy new updates on traditional Trek gadgets and technology.
There's also a streak of humour and bright character moments. (Fair enough)
The film looks to be aimed squarely at non-Trekkies, although, of course, Trekkies will be given a few treats.
WTF???
Here are some of the more interesting tidbits gleaned so far:
SPOCK HATES KIRK A time-travel plot involving Old Spock (Leoanard Nimoy) and Young Spock (Zachary Quinto) hinges on the fact that Vulcans only suppress their emotions, rather than having none. Our young Spock can get quite volatile - and he's no fan of the young Jim Kirk. At all. He starts out as Mr Rules, and Kirk is of course, the young rebel, who is Mr Break The Rules.
Your eyes do not fool you. Spock REALLY hates Kirk.
'CAPTAIN' SPOCK? James Tiberius Kirk is something of a protege of Captain Pike, his predecessor on The Enterprise. Traditionally, Kirk took over after Pike in Trek lore. However, in the film, the next captain (acting captain) is actually Spock. Kirk has to wrest the captaincy from him. Tension awaits. (broken)
MONSTERS! Far from the 'dude in a suit' monsters of the previous 42 years, this Trek has real, honest-to-goodness Space Monsters, brought to you by the good people who gave you 'Clover' in Colverfield. Weird and scary things are out there, and they will eat you.
(I can live with this)
ROMULANS = BEEFY There's something quite Klingon-y about the updated Romulans - they're not the Vulcans with 'tude that we've seen before, but hulking warriors with 'tude. The makeup for Eric Bana's Nero gives them chunkier features than their Vulcan cousins, but at the same time there's an element of reality - like stubble, which is a real shock to the Trekverse, who previously has only had to deal with facial hair with the likes of William T Riker's well-groomed beard.
ROMULANS = BROKEN

There were pictures to go with this but I vomitted on my screen and decided I should not post them in order to avoid lawsuits.

Well last night meg and myself went out and hired it. It was actually a good movie... just not a very good Star Trek movie.
Now I do admit some of the roles were well played including and exclusively the CGI (provided by industrial light and magic) as various alien species and Winona Ryder as Spocks human mother.
At least Simon Pegg did not get too much screen time as a bastardised Scotty...
It really was just light and sound candy in order to bring in a new crowd to the Star Trek universe. If I was to buy it I would sit it with my Starwars movies not the Trek movies. If Star Trek was a decent RPG then the newest movie is just a standard FPS; no brains just action.
