Bunch of arrogant, egotistical dropkicks, that would get shat on by a rugby player without body armour. Ya gotta give 'em credit for being able to do speccy tricks for the camera though! 1st guy, and last two guys are the best of 'em. Middle three are good, but nothin special (That's not saying I could do it...)

To the untrained eye, the basic premise of "Get the ball to the other side of the field, through a wall of opposing players" is essentially the same, only the Americans do it with shedloads of padding, and change out their entire side between being on the offense and defence, whereas rugby players do the same thing, without padding, and play both offense and defence.... Sounds pretty comparable to me!

<shrug> I'm still impressed by the clip... Dunno that many rugby players would pull of those sorts of stunts. Perhaps they just don't feel the need to, who knows.

(Actually, reading the wiki page, the're very similar games, and American football started from Rugby, but the yanks decided to make changes to suit themselves)

What an ignorant and moronic thing to say, you obviously haven't got a f**king clue what you are talking about.

They have worn protective equipment since the 1800s when the first players started dying from brutal hits and it was wither that or make the game illegal. It has the effect of making the game more physical, because since they are protected they can really throw their body in to make hits that a non protected player would be afraid to make. There is only one rule really about the hitting, you are not allowed to intentionally spear your head into another players head, but meh they find a way to do that and get away with too.

Rugby is a man's sport. Professional American Football (like all other pro sports here) is for spoiled brats. Albeit 400 lb spoiled brats that could crush my skull with their gigantic meaty palms.

ah , the game of grab arse. also comparable some would say to all forms of football. but more common with the more... dainty crowd of manly men
