Since alot of the mildura guys were keen on coming up to the megapocolypse in renmark (myself included) but were unable to come I've decided to run our very own apocolypse game just a couple of weeks afterwards. Here are the details:
Date: Saturday 14th of March Venue: Mildura Church of Christ Hall Cost: $10 per person
We will be STARTING at 10:30am, so people planning to play should be there around 10. Late comers will have to be slotted in at the begginning of subsequent turns. Competitors are asked to have their army lists full written BEFORE they arrive as last time we were delayed by over an hour as people scribbled down their lists. There will be no point limit, however the time limits for each phase will apply as with the Megapocolypse in renmark. We'll be hoping to get at least 5 turns done and will have a short break for lunch. You can PM me for extra details.

I think it will be pretty large, altho nothing like yours. Ive tryed to arrange some pictures to be taken but i dont have a camera so im not sure how many ill get. Im still deciding how im going to set up the board but its most likely going to be a simple 4' x 24' or 30'

Cool, T Junctions can work. You guys used that set up last time? Maybe an I shape... or even better an Inquisition 'I' so there are three places where it is fat!

The T junction didnt work so well last time. An I is a possibility but i think we'll just go with the straight and narrow this time.

Cool. We used the straight line the first 2 games and the games worked really well. We used a 12' deployment zone so stuff did not start to close together.

Well the day has been and gone and ive got plenty of picture to put up tommorow. The day was.... interesting. Started off today with the news that Blacktemplar wasnt going to make it, leaving us without an Apocolypse book and a sizeable army. Then too the news that Goon wasnt coming either (id been told on monday but forgot) left it looking like a sparse field. So out came the space wolves id brought for such an occasion and we managed to scrap together around 7k a side. The teams were; Team 1: Daniel (Marines), Perger (Orks), Matt (Eldar) Team 2: Scott (Space Wolves), Borchard (Marines), Darren (Nids), Jacob (Chaos) The first 2 turns went relatively smoothly, with some heavy casualties both sides. Then... near the closing phases of the the 2nd turn... Black Templar arrived, having finished early. So we broke for lunch as i sat pondering the dillema. Where to put the ~4.5k of death that he had brought. The answer: f**k it. I decided that the Templars having learnt of the battle, and the dubious alliances involved had decided that all present were heretics and xenos filth of the worst kind and thus chose to purge them all! In game terms... this meant that he got to put on his forces anywhere along the table edges aslong as they were 12" from the edge and 12" away from enemy models. It was thus at the beginning of turn three that the ground truly began to tremble as the Hellhammer and Warhound Titan, having staked out opposite ends of the table, opened fire on the combatants. This cacophony was quickly joined by the many Landraiders and other vehicles deployed. The game ended in a win for team 2, thanks to darren's hormagaunts who tore the warp spiders holding the central objective to peices. Was a great day had by all. And i was especially thrilled since my Rhino gave a repeat performance of the last apocolypse battle... once again taking a structure point off a Baneblade xD

So did the Templars have their own turn making it 3 turns per turn (if you know what I mean?)

Yeah or every 2nd month. Havent decided, hell if we can get enough people we'd switch between apoclypse and legendary battles each month.

Thats what we will be doing down here. Apoc every 3 months and Legendary Battles every 4-5. Warhammer is not quite as suited to the really big battles as much as 40K. The games play a lot slower....
We had one game where it was my orc army (all 10,000pts) played by 4 players versus all sorts of other stuff. Its really good if your army had a variety of units and allowed you to really participate in all the phases but if you had an all shooty army you got bored.... quick....
I am looking forward to the LOTR big stuff as I think that will work a lot better than legendary battles.
