The Dice and deck Presents:
40K MARCH MAYHEM
This is a 1800pt 40k tournament created as a chance for people to prepare and practice for the upcoming Shippycon slated for mid May.
When:
March 21st and 22nd. Gaming will start at 11am both days
Where:
At the Dice and Deck Wargaming Store
shop 1-2 137 Fifteenth Street Renmark SA
(Between Formula Paints and Growers Services)
Cost:
$15
This fee includes entry into the tournament and a feed on Sunday. There will be Prizes for Battle Points, Overall Best General and Best Sportsman.
Armies:
Any army used must adhere to the standard force organisation chart and be chosen from the most up to date codex or official White Dwarf List.
Forge world is allowed except for Super Heavies, Gargantuan Creatures and Flyers.
you must have a hard copy of any rules being used!
There will be 300 point 'sideboard' rules in place and these will be described in full in a update of this post coming really soon.
Missions:
The mission structure will be a good mix and be representative of the missions that will be utilised at Shippycon (though not exact duplicates) There will be missions based on the following formats:
Kill Points (this is a varient and helps fix the Imperial Guard/Tyranid problem): At the start of the battle calculate your total kill points available to your opponent. Half these rounding up. Your opponent must collect this many kill points BEFORE they start actually scoring for them. ie: You have 9 killpoints available in your army. Your opponent kills 7 units, your opponent has scored '2' for the purposes of victory.
Capture and Control: 5 Objectives on the table. Regular 5th ed rules here.
Recon: Get troops into your opponents deployment zone.
Capture Bob (in its official form as deemed by Shippy): Bob starts in the exact center of the table. Noone can deploy within 24 inches of Bob.
Only HQ and Elites can capture Bob. The only movement a model with Bob can make is a standard 6 inch move. Can not run but may assault.
You can never allocate wounds to Bob. If for any reason a template scatters onto Bob, Bob dies and an instant loss for the player who fired it.
The unit holding Bob becomes FEARLESS.
A unit holding bob can never embark on a vehicle, teleport etc. Bob and his unit can not be affected by psychic powers.
And one more yet to be determined.
The fifth mission will be revealed on the second day, first game.
All the deployment variations will be used in one way or another. These will be revealed before each game.
Games will have a 2-2.5 hour time limit as yet to be finalised.
Sideboards
A side board is a small selection of units and characters that you can use to make slight changes between your games.
When you choose your army it will contain a 1500 point 'core' and two 300 point sideboards.
Your core force must contain the basic 1 HQ and 2 Troops choices minimum. The sideboards have no real restrictions except that when they are added to your core the total force does not break the force organisation chart.
Before each game you will know what type of army your opponent is using and the mission so you can choose the sideboard that best fits your needs at that time.
If you are unfavourable to the sideboard idea you can just make both your sideboards identical but you must still have a 1500 point force and a 300 point addition.
There are only 16 places available so make sure you get in quick!
Additional Info
Some of the people entering where to be staying at my place as they are coming in from out of town unfortunately that is no longer possible (am moving house at about that time so I was going to be temporarily living with my sister on that weekend) To remedy this problem all tournament participants are welcome to crash at the Dice and Deck itself.
You will need to bring all sleeping gear with you (if you are planning to sleep that is) We will be leaving the back door open all night so all you smokers etc have someplace to perform your filthy habit
Feel free to bring computers, consoles and tvs or maybe some of the guys might run a DnD session. everyone is more than welcome to play more 40K, Warhammer, Necromunda etc.
We will be trying to organise a BBQ for that night. Just bring your snacks and drinks to the store (and an esky if possible as the store side will be closed after midnight)
