Thought this warranted a mention. The new Galadhrim Warriors box for LotR has been put up on the advance order. 24 models, same size, and from what ive heard the same level of customizability as normal lord of the rings models... for $55. Whats the bet that all the other LotR troop boxes get put up. I mean I know we've been spoilt getting 24 for $35 compared to the other lines... but this is still just under 60% price rise.

Yep, been up for a while. I knew about the price rise for the lotr models before I decided on writing up a war of the ring list... meaning lots of boxes, still does not bother me. Still get a quality hobby that I have enjoyed for about 20 years and will no doubt enjoy for at least 20 years more.
I am not going to stop buying their product or even start complaining about the price rises. You will not even notice the difference in price 4 months from now. You hand over money and get some miniatures which will serve you well for years to come.

the first time a mate saw us playing 40k he thought we played "for keeps", when we told him how much the minis cost and the time taken to paint the models he realised the mistake. This was about 6-8 years ago.

Well the price rises are in and I'm actually not complaining too much, since most of the necron stuff seems to have dodged the bullet... except for Monoliths which are now $96 a pop

Any at all is still too much. If you dont like it there is a dirt cheap minis section on the boards. I suggest you make use of it. failing that there are set of unmentionable Australian boards who want swine flu like news coverage and an international boycott for the paints going up by a dollar.

wait the paints went up? i didnt realise this. that is something i dont see the point of, especially when paint is something that is a hell of a lot easier to get cheaper from competitors than models.

Justify charging $69 for a box of 10 plastic Greatswords. games workshop has a series of products all around the same contents at one price and then this kit which hardly contains a huge amount more. yet theyve doubled the price compared to these similar kits. it makes no sense. Things that do not make sense TO YOU, due to you being a retarded fire-crotched freak may make sense to intelligent people like us, or even fairly slow monkeys, like Bega. If GW makes a plastic kit for something that will sell lots, like a marine tactical squad then the high initial setup cost of buying the injection machine and setting up the mold etc (or however the f**k it works) is spread over thousands and thousands of boxes that get sold, so the price can be set at a low level and they will easily cover the one-off costs like the mold, and recurring costs, like plastic, boxing, shipping, shop costs and staff. If they make a plastic kit for something that will sell less, like veteran marines or empire greatswords then the high initial setup cost will need to be spread over fewer total sales overall, so to make enough money to recoup the initial costs the price per unit must be higher, because they won't sell as many. If they have set a price structure for a certain kit and find that sales do not meet their projections they might find they need to increase the cost per box for that item only to break even on the initial costs. Therefore price changes and reboxing etc are the natural result of the changing economics of the situation. Perhaps one year if you are lucky enough to get a brain in your christmas stocking you can think about this and realise that your position on the matter is unrealistic, naive and moronic. If they do indeed use moulds and injectors you wouldn't need to have a specific injection line for the various models because all your doing is injecting a mold with the plastic shit that dries hard so you could put great swords on the same production line as marines because the injectors still doing the same shit just squirting the liquid in each one as per usual. And even if they did want to dedicate a whole production line to just one box model there are more than one boxed model set that don't sell well and rather than having the same amount going through one production line you could mix it up with say spore mines with these great swords which would half the costs. With the machine distributing the plastic liquid the computers now days that handle that crap do indeed have the mechanical brains to distinguish how much to put in each mold they could do it through a weight system or a size scanner etc. So it wouldn't matter if the model box was different to the next in line. Wouldn't that make more marketing sense? Or rather more sense overall? You wouldn't become a successful company by losing money on boxed models.

No, you would not become a successful company losing money on boxed models. Thanks for justifying the price rise and helping us to make our point

Hmm... You could post a picture of him in the bad, dodgy miniatures thread in the general gaming area?

Put abbadon next to say a demon prince which one looks better... Or next to my Chaos Terminator lord... The choice is easy.
