Ok, well I am in the need of getting a camera. I am really looking for something that will allow me to take decent photos of miniatures. It needs to be useful for single miniature shots aswell as larger army shots. Im looking at a tight budget so nothing really above $400.
Also what is the minimum MP's that you would suggest takinginto account that photos never really need to be displayed at more that 1024x768. Im not after poster sized pics (if i'm ever in need ill just ask Big Dave, that cam is nuts!)
So any help would be great guys!

Unless you want to print bigger than A4, or crop heavily, then 4 - 5 MP is plenty. Contrary to popular belief, for cameras of the same generation, LESS 'megapixels' gives BETTER image quality than MORE megapixels, as well as better low light performance. Your average electronic store gimp looks at you funny when you try to tell them you want a camera will LESS pixels. Idiots.
Take a look at dpreview, and Steves Digicams (Use google). The're great review sites.
I Bought my sister a Nikon Coolpix L4 for Xmas 2006, for under 200 bucks, 4MP and it's a perfectly servicable little camera.

Oh, for mini / scenery photography, get a cheap little tripod too.. Makes a huge difference.

macro mode! and have a good lamp, because up close the flash is a PITA Most definately both! - Most P&S cameras have a macro mode. Spend a couple of hundred on the camera tops, then spend a few bucks on a little tripod, then some good BRIGHT lighting - Something like those halogen worklamps. The're too strong on their own, make a cheapo lightbox or diffuse the light somehow. More than one lightsource is good too. If you have to use flash, drape a thin tissue over the flash to help diffuse it.

hahaha.... Well I can draw to a point... But it would lose all the subtle nuances that a photo can provide. Plus I hate the feel of crayons in my fingers...
