Alcopocalypse... Christ, what a night! (Pics too!)

How hilarious was that?
A game of Apocalypse that was played by booze fuelled mad men?

Well the game was a bit of a dodge but the drinking certainly was not.... Let me explain...

The night actually started right on schedule. 6pm I booted out the youngens and the BBQ was cooked, kegs were tapped and tomfoolery began. At around 8pm the sides were chosen for the game and the armies were laid out (a modest 40000 points a side, games like this are becoming more common place)

The turns were played with the usual time restricions; 1 hour per side per turn, and it was here that the problems (if you can call them that) began. People got bored waiting for their turn, people got extremelly drunk waiting for their turn, people gave up on the game waiting for their turn.

But it matters not!
Beer was drunk and a game was played... sorta.

This was an experimental night and a lot by this organiser was learned. Next time will see a much faster flowing game, an earlier start and most importantly more fun!

I started taking photos on the night but quickly forgot about the camera. I will post what I have tomorrow.... and apologies for this write up... feeling a little scattered due to lack of sleep this weekend

The game was a draw by the way... at the end of turn 3.... haha

never in my wargaming experience have I ever seen such heroism and competitive spirit, ,,, applied to drinking!

I think half of us were having too much fun to play the game, but it was still the most fun game of 40k I've played. Those who were more into the game went for it, those who were getting boozy did so. Well done Ash, you've done it again!

Can't wait for the next one!

Mayhap we should try just a night of gaming instead. As fun as it is having the big game, it would allow more freedom for those wanting to play and those wanting to drink to play until theyre too far gone to worry about it without affecting the other games. But then with the new rules things will probably be alot easier to manage.

Having another one this weekend. Not an actual Alcopocalypse, but there'll no doubt be a few drinks had.

That sucks dude. Are there any other positions going around in Renmark. If so chuck in your current job (I know this advice is useless cause I know you would do just that given the opportunity)

Greenacres Gamers will be hosting the second Alcopocalypse sometime in the next few months. Be prepared for more shenanigans, epic beer drinking and no doubt concurrent movie marathon (poll will be held for the movie list!)
