I suppose as the "historical guy" it's high time I organized an event Well, here's what I've come up with. On the 27th of this month (two weeks after this Saturday) the mighty armies of the Allies (aka Ash n' my self) will clash with the armoured might of the invading Germans (Scott Bowden and Hayden) At present, these are the only combatants, but if anyone else wishes to join in, we can allocate you a platoon to command. Both sides will have an overall "commander" issuing orders to the platoons to be carried out (Ben Shipway and Andrew Kruger at this stage) The game'll be kicking off around lunch time, and will go until one team has its Commanders objective(s) or flees the field of battle. Whichever comes first. The Germans have nearly a dozen tigers in their order of battle, so the former is going to be no mean feat for the gallant forces of the Allies

Painting another platoon of Poms over the next week and a bit...
Should finish em' just in time. Two platoons of infantry, a platoon of Shermans, a platoon of Churchills and scout carriers, should be interesting ;D

well at least they wont be able to ambush your platoons, hopefully! my four recon squads should prevent that but i wont stand a chance against tigers, so they're all yours.

As I had some issues in dealing with area terrain during this game I thought I would re-examine the rules relative to the RGG's 'wooded' pieces. They would be classed as 'difficult going' (HRB Pg30/31), and would also be (considerably) higher than any of they ground units. For the purpose of movement (HRB Pg40): Vehicles test for bogging as they enter the terrain. In the event that they fail they stop half in/half out. Once successfully freed they return to the point where they took the test (ie: at the edge, not halfway), so therefore no 'one track in without testing'. For the purpose of line of sight (HRB Pg61): Line of sight is completely blocked to teams opposite area terrain regardless of distance (I mistakenly thought they were 'concealed' and allowed the 'hit the easiest target' rule). This is different to when one team is in or at the edge and the other team is outside of it. Fun game. Need another one sometime Draccy!

So who won? Where's the pictures? Tell me more! The Good Guys... but with a loss ratio of around 6:1 (ouch) Tigers n' Panthers got owned a lot by Ash's artillery, and from after turn four, my Typhoons (flying can openers ;D). Funniest moment for me was seeing the look on Haydens face when I neutered his anti tank guns by placing smoke em'. We ended up winning by Ash talking Scott into moving his last Tiger off an objective he was contesting, to get into a better position to shoot at a vehicle that had no bearing on the game whatsoever ;D

Yeah, we started with about 93 vehicles on the table and ended up with less than 30......
