I'm looking to start up a new roleplaying group. I've been GMing games for 15 years, some campaigns i have run have lasted up to 3-4 years.
Some of the games i'm most interested in running: WFRP (I have previously run the first 3 adventures in the classic 'The Enemy Within' series before moving house) D&D 3.5e OR 4e (I've run lots of 3.5e, new to 4e) Pendragon Shadowrun Conan (using some system that's not D20, Savage Worlds or possibly a modified version of the Riddle of Steel)
Other games i'm interested in: Call of Cthulhu Star Wars (D20 or D6) White Wolf games - VtM, Werewolf or Scion Savage Worlds (using a setting of my own creation) Mechwarrior
I'm willing to listen to what my players want and try and create a game to make everyone happy. I'm fairly flexible with the nights i can roleplay at the moment but would prefer one regular night to play weekly or fortnightly.
Drop me a message if you're interested. Thanks.

I'd love to join but I'm in a different state. I had a group going here in Renmark but i'm due to move in a few weeks so bugger....
Have you ever run a roleplaying thread on a forum? Can be fun.....

Have you ever run a roleplaying thread on a forum? Can be fun..... I've "Sat in" on a PBEM game - was actually fun just to 'watch' too, made for interesting reading.

No, never tried running a RPG thread on a forum. Do tell me more! I had a a go playing in a few rpgs online, but with little success. So, with the forum roleplaying, wouldn't it be bit slow, waiting for others to reply and all? Or do you arrange a time when everyone is online or something?

Forum RPG'ing can work in many different ways.
Basically there is the DM who comes up with the scenario and all the usual stuff the Dm does. Then you have the players... pretty standard fare.
The difference is that most forum RPG's do not really use stat lines and no dice rolls. I'm sure you can play it with them and stats could be present in a players forum signature. Dice rolls are harder, you can get dice roll generators for forums and when using these it really is up to the truthfulness of the players ie not getting a bad roll then deleting their post and rolling again.
Players generally get 2 posts in the thread in character per day. The first post will be open between 6am and 6pm, the second post between 6pm and 6am with the DM being able to post as often as they like (they are telling the storyafterall) a player missing their post forfeits their action and could possibly have other penalties placed upon them.
Private messages are also a good tool so a DM can send secret messages to a player or players and players to each other.
Its really up to the DM how they want it to work.

Ok, sounds interesting. I think i'd prefer the face-to-face table top type of game. But if i can't get players i'll have to look for other options and forum gaming might be worth a go.

Yeah, fantastic setting. The 4th edition REALLY feels like playing in the future too. Lots of fun to play. I've played the 2nd, 3rd and 4th editions of the game and i can honestly say the latest (4th) set of rules is the best. I wouldn't call the new rules simple but compared to the 2nd and 3rd editions they have been streamlined a lot. Shadowrun still involves rolling HUGE handfulls of dice however, which is good or bad depending on the tastes of the player. Personally i love it - i'm a wargamer afterall! :-) The magic and hacking systems are more fun too and less laborious. So, one player and a maybe. It's a start. I shall see who else i can get. I suspect the session day/time is going to be the real trick but we'll work something out.

Never played 4th ed Shadowrun. Can not remember which edition it was but it had some guy jacking into a bank machine while being covered by a female elf on the cover. 2nd ed? We did not really use the magic system or the hacking system much as my group was more than happy enough with blasting the hell out of things with Ares Predators and Caseless Machine Guns (of the Whitney Morgan kind ) I had the Denver campaign set which was pretty cool, you even got 2 plastic sector cards in it which looked cool. The map was a little lacking though so we ended up setting it in our home town and just transporting that to the US. Was cool using the landmarks we all knew in a game. We even actually hit the streets for some interesting quasi LARPing action.

Sounds like a really fun campaign. Yeah, the elf guy jacking into the bank machine and the busty blonde chick was 2nd ed, the edition i started with also. Back in those days we used to enjoy blowing stuff away with big guns too - hell, i still enjoy that kinda stuff! lol Still thinking of where to set this campaign. I like the idea of transporting a town/city everyone knows to another place. I was thinking it could be fun to create a fictional city some place too and just use maps of some place else.

I've been playing and mostly GMing games for about 8 years, a lot of my fellow gamers have either wandered off or can't work around their schedule, so I've started a forum specifically for online tabletop rpgs. I'd love to have some more players if anyone is interested. I'm pretty much up for anything, please check it out. wovenstonerpgs.boards.net/
