Issue 1, October 2009
Welcome to this months issue of the Guild News. It's still quite a bot sketchy at this stage with the format still being developed but it has been decided that this newsletter will be published on a monthly basis in the middle of the month; Sunday-ish. I only say Sunday-ish as at the moment I am a one man band. Hopefully in the near future this can be presented on a more regular and reliable basis.
At the time of writing this newsletter is serving the message boards and the three clubs featured in each 'Club Focus' but it would be great to feature more clubs in every issue. If you are running a club or even just a regular gathering of hobbyists at your house and would like to be featured in this newsletter then send me a line at gormath@hotmail.com .
CLUB FOCUS
Riverland Gamers Guild (RGG)
The Sundered Sword
The Riverland Gamers Guild is set to run their upcoming 'Sundered Sword' Warhammer Fantasy Battle Tournament.
The last tournament run at the RGG was met with great success with a great turnout but this next tournament is set to be even better. Numbers on pre sold tickets are indicating that this tournament is looking to fill the gaming area at the Dice and Deck to capacity so if you are interested you had better get in quick!
It will be held over the weekend of the 17th and 18th October (thats NEXT weekend!) starting at 10:30pm both days. No details as to whether there will be set missions or the use of Special Features.
Armies are to be no larger than 2000pts and written up from current Armies Books only. Max of 1 Lord.
The fee $25 which covers Entry and the traditional Sausage Sizzle.

Magic Tournament in the planning??
Magic used to be a very well served game at the RGG but in the recent months interest has dwindled with only one tournament having been held in the last six months. Some members of the forums have posted about the need to run another Magic Tournament and hopefully rekindle interest in this great game.
Still no decisions about when or the format of such an event but discussions have been happening on the forums. To have your say and register your interest visit the page here:

Mildura WAAAGH!!! (MW)
The Funny Buggers League
The Mildura WAAAGH will be running a league. Not just any old type of league but a 'Funny Buggers League'!
Let me explain. Through the entirety of this league each player will be partnered up with another. Normally this partnership would last the entirety of the league with each team playing another, battling for dominance and glory as a well tuned unit. However during this league your partnership is uncertain. At the start of each weekly league game night the players names are thrown into a hat and the teams are pulled out at random. Pure madness!
It is hoped that there will be some rather unconventional team ups; Tyranids and Marines, Tau and Necrons, Space Wolves and Dark Angels!!!
However there are a few rules how the teams will operate and these along with all the other details can be found here:

Apocalypse Hits MW again.
Why can't everyone just live in peace?
Apparently it is not possible over in Mildura as they will be holding another massive game of Apocalypse. Mildura has a habit of these big fights breaking out and a good thing too as everyone loves a nice big game.
This event will be held in 5-7 weeks time to celebrate the ending of another well played league (The funny buggers one) and is open to all. Entry is $5 for those who did not participate in the league. League winners will be announced and the prize ceremony will be held. There will be a raffle drawn for those who take part in what is sure to be another monumental battle.
More details in the next Guild News so stay tuned!
Northern Football Invitational (NFI)
Regular Gaming Days Decided
Over the last few weeks the NFI has held an on line poll for members/players to vote on which night of the week would be the best for their regular gaming sessions. The votes were tied at Wednesday Evenings and Sunday Afternoons. Not all players could make it on one night or the other but as players were mostly free on these days it was decided that Wednesday Nights would be classified as practice sessions whilst Sunday Afternoons would be the big games day.
There is no real difference between Wednesday Practice and Sundays Games Day as all games played on these days would still go towards league rankings.
A new feature to be introduced to the NFI league is where games would be played. I am not talking about whose house the games will be played in (ie real life location) but the 'in-game' location where teams would travel too. Before a game the players will determine which location their game will be played in with each location having an effect on the game itself ranging from modifiers on the weather chart to Bloodthirsty Refs!
Did you know?
The NFI league is having trouble finding towns that are willing to support its teams full time for a full season. As a way of increasing fan interest in their games the governing committee is rumored to be trying to pass a league rule that removes the ban on chainsaws during blood bowl games.
!!!News Flash!!!
During the last game between the Ulthuan Untenables and the Rampaging Reapers the Untenables recorded their first Death. From the looks of it it was not caused by a Block, Blitz or even foul play but a rather unfortunate roll to 'Go For It'. For full details read the story here:

Forum Happenings!
Competitions Page Opened
In the preview issue of the Guild News it was announced that a 'Competitions Page' was in the process of being created. Well I am pleased to announce that it has been opened to all. The competitions are there to exercises your skills in the hobby and as such they are quite open to your ideal activities within the hobby.
That last paragraph did not really explain much so hopefully the next one I write will do a little better.
The competitions will be held on a regular basis. Each competition will be theme based with a theme being chosen and it is up to the hobbyist to interpret how they will present the theme. This is really up to the hobbyist to decide. They can present a diorama, a piece of fiction, some artwork, a battle report.... really whatever they want that falls within the bounds of our hobby.
There are some restrictions though and I will not delve into all of these. However, there is one major rule placed upon your entry; It must be fully backed up with a detailed work in progress report which you will publish on the forums as you go along. This is really the most important part of these competitions as they are designed for everyone to learn off of everyone else.
This first competitions theme was chosen to be 'Horror'. This can be interpreted in many ways so hopefully there is a good range of entries.
Its not a competition without a winner so at the end of the competitions alloted time limit all completed entries are voted on via public poll on the forums with the winner choosing the next competitions theme.
