Due to the rather underwhelming number of competition entries it is decided that the Horror competition will close.
In talking to people about the lack of entries in the competition it has been established there are three main reasons for not wanting to enter:
1. The first competitions theme was a little obscure and people were finding it hard to come up with a meaningful idea for an entry.
2. Some people were intimidated by what they thought was the amount of work needed in presenting their WIP. This is mainly my fault with my rather in depth wip.
3. Laziness. It appears there are a lot of lazy hobbyists out there on these boards. People did not want to put so much time into their entry with only a small reward. I thought the reward was learning and growing with ones hobby experience but I misjudged people
So it is with regrets that we close the horror competition as of today.
However a new one will be starting almost immediately!
But Ash, you must be crazy. Why start another one when the last one has failed so dismally???
Well there has been a slight change in direction of the competitions. I have looked at each of the main reasons for people not entering and have addressed them below:
1. The next competitions theme will be a little more open. This competition will begin almost immediately with the theme hopefully encouraging more entries.
2. In regards to WIP's. They do not have to be as indepth as my 'Rise of the Dead' entry. All that is really expected is that you detail your progress over time and have it backed up with some pictures. It does not have to be presented as a tutorial. You do not have to detail all your tools.
Apart from this all you need to do is try to answer peoples questions that they may have. This is really the most important aspect; learning.
3. Laziness. Well its easy to see how something like this might seem like hard work with litte reward which is now why we are offering a $50 Games Workshop Online Voucher to the winner along with their choice of the next comps theme!
Look for the next competition soon!
