Well what can I say? I love Space Wolves, purely from a background perspective and how awsome the models look. Being new to the whole hobby and more than a little lazy, im hoping this will keep me on track to get stuff done, this will be my first army so expect to see plenty of newbie mistakes to make you wince. Ive got 2 squads started at the moment which ill be using to practice up my painting and assembly skills, aswell as settle on the final colour scheme ready for the start.
The first month im planning to do a Grey Hunter Pack and a Blood Claws pack, nothing to surprising there. Since my Ulrik is already assembled and undercoated, i wont be able to use him as my first HQ choice. Im undecided on whether to go with a wolf lord represented by the classic Space Wolf Captain miniture or a Wolfguard Battle Leader represented by the Wolf Guard Terminator Seargant model. Both are awsome looking peices so i wont be changing them much. 2nd month will see the rise of either a Long Fang pack or a Wolf Priest, thanks to Ebay ive picked up one of the 2003 games day ones. At some point I wanna get a box of khorne berserkers use for parts, ideally before i do the Long Fangs squad. After looking through some of the articles online, I really liked the results you get by clipping of and filling down the horns on the berker's helmets to make them look like an antique SM helmet. Other things im hoping to get in will be a Dreadnought, a Blood Claws Bike pack using the option to exchange their bikes for jet packs, and a Predator. Dont expect to see much originality, and feel free to correct me on any mistakes aswell as any input that might be helpful. Will be interesting to see if i can keep up with the rest of you guys.

Lmao you serious? What are the odds. Yeah definately, how dare you butcher a wolf priest! Cost me $33 though, inlcuding postage and postal insurance. After mulling things over, im thinking i might make all my HQ choices originals, and save the good blisters for when i can paint properly. So you'll probably see them make an appearance later on but my first HQ choice i think im just gunna kit bash the SM commander kit. Same for the Wolf Priest, ill convert the plastic apocothary you get in the Command squad box. I'm still now sure how i'll do the Rune Priest, while i can easily buy the GW model, it would be much cooler if i did my own unique one. But that said, i dont think you can get a plastic librarian lol so i'd have to convert a metal model.. which im much more unsure about doing.

Maybe convert one out of the Chaos Space Marine Lord Kit? Has many awesome pieces and if you kit bash it with regular and Space Wolve marine parts you could get a really effective figure!
Give the Librarian some sort of staff or polearm but decorate it in ways that are reminiscent of Native Americans (possibly make it like a tribal totem?)

Native yanks? Space Wolves are vikings!!! So it would be norse, im thinking hammers, axes etc. and lots of runes. I also want to do a Chooser of the Slain, the easiest option i see for that at the moment is stealing the eagle from an Inq Lord Corteaz box, or something similar. The main way ill distinguish the rune priest wil be lots of runes and decoration on his armour, might look at some dwarf some from fantasy and other fantasy stuff in general to nick bitz from. Probably after this whole thing is over ill get to work on my Venerable Dreadnought Beowulf i have planned.

Need i point out the folly of baiting wolves for a bite? let alone someone who has no compunction about actually biting people.
Will be accepting donations or trades for any suitable bitz. Mainly wolf/tribal stuff might need some SM bits, ill see how i go.

Ok ive come up with a semi solid plan: 1st month: HQ choice of some sort, kit bashed. 2 squads of Grey Hunters Rhino started 2nd month: full squad of Blood Claws with Wolfguard leader (15models) Blood Claws Bike pack w/ jetpacks Rhino finished 3rd month: another HQ choice blood claws squad landraider crusader long fangs squad 4th month: Not quite sure atm, i have plans for a major Venerable Dreadnought conversion but will depend on how much money i have at the time. Probably more grey hunters and/or blood claws. Predator 5th month: Snow themed gaming board im drawing up plans for, trying to keep to simple to match my skill. Will be making heavy use of the imperial sector kit.
Will try and sneak in as many more models around the side as i can. For me its probably a pretty ambitious time table as it is.

Ok settled on the HQ choice for the 1st month. Fairly simple. Rune Priest: Power armour, runic weapon, some sort of shooty thingy, bodyguard and whatever else i think he needs and will look kool.
I've made the decision that each of my HQ choices will be kitbashed or heavily converted, so theyll be more original than using stock standard models. Thusly the Rune Priest is gunna be made using mainly the commander box along with some space wolf bitz and other assorted stuff i hunt up.

I've got some plastic wolf heads from doomwolves (you get a cool metal one and a normal plastic) and some empire cloaks that I believe are wolf pelts or something for those mounted knights that carry the two handed hammers (trivia question, what are these chaps called?). If you think they'd be handy let me know and I'll fish them out when I've moved in a couple of weeks and leave them with Jacob or ash next time i'm in renners. Would happily swap for whatever bits from comand sprue you'll never use, I have marines too and love to convert my sargents when the mood strikes me. I've got some beardy empire heads too, the wolfpriesty ones are mostly gone now because they are way cool but plenty of militia ones etc.

Lol yeah. If it wasnt for the fact that i wanted to use an iron priest in there somewhere, and a predator, id probably add pimped out pack leaders to the blood claw squads aswell.

What's this Blood Claws with jetpacks on bikes you keep talking about? Only Tau get jetpacks, I think you mean jump packs. If you mean jump packs you can't have a jump pack and a bike. i don't know why you'd want a jump pack if you were on a bike or why you'd want a bike i you had a jump pack.

I meant jump packs. They dont get both A blood claws bike pack can exchange their bikes for JUMP packs, but they lose the toughness point they get from being on a bike.

Yeah I know that, but you keep saying Blood Claws with bikes and jump packs. Are you saying you're going to do a squad with bikes and another squad with jump packs?

Actually only once did i mention that, and that was during my planning where i said Blood Claw Bike pack w/ Jet Pack in which case what i meant was theyd exchange bikes for jump packs. In fact the very first post i made i said id use the option to exchange their bikes for jump packs. I hate bikes lol
