I really like bikes but I think their usefulness is wasted in a standard sized game on a 6' x 4' table. I think most people see them as a different type of jump pack with an extra point of toughness thrown in.

Hmm yeah i spose that would be more acceptable, I just much prefer jump packs.

Well I'm speaking from a Dark Angel's successor point of view so I am biased towards bikes.

Ok big problem with my venerable dready that just occured to me and a lesser one with my rune priest, both related to nubiness.
Rune priest in termy armour, with the commander box, by giving him the crux terminatus shoulder pad does that equivilate to him having termy armour, so he can use the storm bolter and save roll?

And with the venerable dreadnought box, its just occured to me that i think it only comes with the assault cannon and power fist/claw/thing, am i right? If so then i dont know whether to leave it like that and use the extra points it leaves me, spending them on either the predator anhilator (more anti tankness) or on the jump pack blood claws.
Or whether to just convert the hell out of the venerable kit, i thought of maybe using the turret of a whirlwind for the missile arm and then im not sure with the lascannon, maybe the turret of something else *shrugs*
Help?

Ah hah! I have the solution! Mwahahahaha.
I will still be fielding a Venerable Dreadnought with Twin-linked Lascannon and a Missile Launcher.
The Missile Launcher will be converted from the Whirlwhind Hyperios conversion kit (forgeworld) and the lascannon will be either the lascannon razorback conversion kit or the Anhilator Leman Russ turret (also forgeworld).

Well it appears that i got my dates mixed up (and not in the fun but awkward way where you ask to girls out to the same place on the same night). I thought we started on the 15thish but luckily i read jacob's post realised my error. So i shall be making like a grot in danger of getting sucked into a big mek's shokk attak gun. By the end of the week i intend to have my torso's and legs assembeled and undercoated (gunna try and get assembly done tonight).
Basically ill be batch painting like crazy doing the parts in seperate groups before adding them on.
Torsos and legs, then arms painted seperately and attached. Head painted seperately then attached and then finally the shoulder pads attached then painted. Hopefully it works as planned.

Well that will certainly help you to paint things better. Especially assembling your arms.

lol and by end of the week i really meant tuesday night end of the week i intend to have way more done obviously >_> especially if im ever gunna get it done. but yeah leaving the arms off while i do the torso make things easier. same with the head. In fact i was reading a dwarf painting guide on the GW site where he left the heads on the sprue to make batch painting easier lol

Well last night i sat down, got out my bitz jars and began sorting out all the parts for the 2 squads of grey hunters. Got the torso and legs put together, but left the torsos with dangly bits seperate however so theyre easier to paint. I decided that the snappy terminator from white dwarf would be good as the wolf guard leader for 1 squad, so i worked on him and added some extra bits which ill post a pic of if i get a chance. Tonight at the club meet if im in a good mood ill sort the wonderful process of mold lining. Tommorow night ill add all the little extra bits etc. such as the sheathed swords, seals, pouches.
Then i just have to steal some black paint to undercoat them all since i appear to have lost my white, and im poor atm. I still have to pick up my commander box to do up my rune priest.

... im NEVER going to stop bagging out Lion el Penis, not even when in the far future i decide i want some dark angel minitures, ill paint them up different and call them anything BUT dark angels.
Gotta try and start painting my Terminator tonight, in addition to cleaning up as much of the grey hunters as i can so i can undercoat by the next meeting.

Yeah hopefully my army list plays aswell as i hope, although i keep looking at the ven dread and thinking "... a spacewolf dreadnought that doesnt get in close.. maybe i should change it..."

Started painting my terminator and cleaned up a bunch more mould lines.

Things are going to slow down even further over the next week or so since im moving this week and ive got a bunch of stuff im sposed to be doing to the flat before i get to fully move in.

Dont worry, after you have finished cleaning the models you still have hours of painting ahead of you!
Just keep visualising the end result in your head and how awesome it will be to play with your own fully painted army.

And with the Ven Dredd....
Go close combat with it. Like I say 'go theme not tactics', build an army to a specific theme then build strategies around that theme. When you win games bask in the knowledge of what an awesome general you are, give your opponent the finger, tell them they suck and carry about the rest of your day...

Lol well i still plan on doing the conversion eventually. But something occured to me at work......
My army all fits in drop pods (barring some tweaking with squad size) hehehe. So i'm thinking... drop pod assault. Gotta check how it fits in with the new codex etc. ofcourse.
Im moving out by the end of this week, so next week in between painting and cleaning the flat im gunna get out the spray gun, steal my dad's air compressor and see if i can get the paint consistency right ready to bulk base coat everything.
