Having flicked through the thing, it gets the Draconis "I can't believe it, this might actually be a good GeeDubb product" tick of approval (probably the first one I've ever given) ;D
Mind you... I haven't actually read it yet
Oh, did I mention I'm EVIL....
"2..4..6..8..tiptoe, sneak, and infiltrate, yaaaaaay, recce!
Two essential strategies for success.
1) Never reveal all you know 2)
It's all fun n' games till someone loses an eye! Then it's fun n' games without depth perception... =)
The new rulebook is indeed awesome! After having read it completely through I can safely say the new rules are more streamlined, more intuitive and more complete.
The new fluff that has been written is alot darker and hints at a very dark future indeed.
The hobby section is awesome and has many very inspirational models.
So come on in, preorder yourself a copy. Preordering gives you the right to check out this incredible new set of rules in advance.
Lol we just got them in at Toyworld here. However they were shrink wrapped and put on the shelf so i didnt get to have a flick through im gunna have to wait and semi legally acquire it til i can afford to buy it myself. However what ive seen in this months white dwarf has gained my approval. ... i need more money
Anyways take it from me, the book is solid and a lot better bound then the other ones. No more having the contents fall out due to regular gaming handling.
Ah k. Theyre not supposed to be selling it? If theyre not, i better let them know =/ as I told you on our phone conversation, they really dont know whats what. As far as they know, theyve recieved so its time to put it on shelf. They got 2 boxs of blister packs and didnt know that one of them was the thing theyd ordered (Brother Captain Stern) and now theyre kinda miffed cus they could only order it in a pack of 2, they dont think theyll sell they other. Now you see what im up against in trying to help sort things out there. Theyre heart is in the right place, theyre just not involved in the hobby so they lack the information.
Cant sell till the 12th.. As for blisters, always only in quantities of two and if the miniature is available in different forms, armaments and poses their is no guarantee on which one you will get.
We are happy to get any blisters in as the doubles just go out on the shelf.

*points out the lack of quotation marks* i meant borrow borrow. not steal borrow. trying to convince my mates the twins to go halves in a rulebook, otherwise find someone else thats gotten one. oh and when i "borrow" its usually with full intent to get it legally asap. or if its something i cant get legally like the SW codex.

Despite quoting your post, I was more aimed at the exchange between Ash and Alex, Alex almost infered the quotations in his posts :-) Sorry for the confusion.

In fairness, I Suspect Alex is in this boat as well. :-)
having my first read through now, real line of sight, HooRah!
I've read about the 'real LoS' rules in a few places.... my understanding is that "If you can see it, you can shoot it", yes? So, as an example, if the top half of the head of a guardsman is visible above some crumbling ruins, or if something is 3" into a wooded area, but the lower half of his left leg is visible, then you can shoot it?
How can that be worth celebrating? Really?
Miniatures are a STATIC representation of something that is very much DYNAMIC on the battlefield! The guardsman in the example above, is not going to be standing still, head up for all to see, he's going to be crouching, making the most of the cover he's got. The mini in the woods is going to be shaded, and shrouded in undergrowth as well. Having rules that encourage players to get laser pointers and try to target the tiniest bit of miniature visable is bad, bad, bad....
Sorry if I'm off the ball here, this is just the general impression I've gotten from a few places about cyberspace....

*shrugs* look at it this way. people are complete and utter retards. If it makes you feel any better just pretend that that IG is your average american infantry man. You can expect them to do something smart, like hide.
