If you guys want to play let me know and I'll be in. When I lived in the city every monday night at my house was an 'open house' where any of my mates could drop in for some bloodbowl. It would be awesome to have a regular bloodbowl night for a league, or jsut ad hoc games. If you wanted an experienced player to run it and teach new players the game I'd be in for that too.
Its a shame they don't have teams available at stores anymore, but its fun to convert up a team, just cut the weapon off a miniature, put him on a round base and you're done.
GW teams I've got; 2x High elves Wood Elves Chaos Human Skaven
teams I've converted halflings (still need a few more tho) humans (using empire bits) undead (zombies skeletons and ghouls don't really need converting as they don't carry much in the way of weapons). More Chaos Warriors (just cut the weapons off) Dark Elves, work in progress, cutting up some Dark Eldar to make a team
Teams I'd like to get oneday Dwarves, at some stage I'll pick up a box of plastic warhammer dwarfs and convert them up for bloodbowl.

I am very keen to get a team up and running but cant really decide which ones to collect.
Im thinking either Orcs or Skaven. Orcs because they are easily my favourite race from any system (plus I have loads spare to convert up). Also fanatics seem right deadly on the field!
But Skaven have always had a place in my collection.. sneaky sneaky rats. Are their rules for either weeping blades or fighting claws? What are the Skavens main specialty on the field?

IMX Orcs are one of the easiest races to use and strongest in the hands of a good player. Orcs are a little slower than humies, but tougher. Black Orcs are great on the pitch. Skaven are faster, but get hurt more easily. Gutter Runners are great with the ball in their hands, and storm vermin are pretty good. One of the main advantages of Skaven is that they can gain mutations (as well as the skills normal players get), things like an extra head or arm or razor sharp fangs or a claw- very cool stuff, especially if you want to model it onto the miniature Check out the rules from the website, I'll bring my BB miniatures next time I drop in.

You usually only need 12-13 miniatures to start a team, as your team earns more money you'll be able to hire extra players, and assistant coaches and cheerleaders etc. The maximum team size is 16 players, so most people with a fantasy army should have enough bits spare to scrounge a team. ANyone good with greenstuff would even be able to make a thrower holding a ball in his hands, though this is prolly a bit beyond me unless I'm having a good day. For example an undead team could have a couple of wights (for clobbering people), a couple of ghouls (for gettin the ball) and about 8 zombies or skeletons( for shambling up nad down the pitch to get in your oponents way. Most races have simple "linemen" who are just a generic warrior type miniature. (e.g. clan rat is a skaven lineman) Then they usually have a "blitzer" who is a bit faster and stronger, e.g. a storm vermin is a skaven blitzer, a dragon warrior is a highelf blitzer, a war dancer is a woodelf blitzer. Then the 'agile' teamswill have a "thrower" and either a couple of "catchers" or a "runners". Throwers are modeled with the ball about to hurl it downfield, catcher are modelled with less armour (e.g. use a head with no helmet) and with a hand in the air signialling for the pass or about to catch it, and the runners also have less armour (so they can run faster!) and might have the ball tucked under their arm or otherwise be moddelled in a running pose. Examples of passing teams include humans, norse, amazon, high elves, wood elves and "pro elves" Examples of runnign teams include dark elves, skaven and dwarves The 'hitty' teams don't usually have catchers or runners, they just have big mean bastards that hit the other team's catchers and runners, black orcs and chaos warriors are examples. There are two ways to play sport a) play the ball b) play the man this is true in bloodbowl too, you can either try to get the ball and race off with it to score and win, or you can jsut beat the oposition to a pulp and think about the ball when they are all dead. The former is the hardest because your oposition is usually trying to achieve option b) because it is more fun.

Im definately a 'play the man' type player. With orcs I make lots of fouls and then somehow manage to make off with the ball.
Its a great fun game and actually probably more tactical than most other games; one mistake and it can all go pear shaped in a matter of minutes. The fact that there can be more than one 'deployment' in a game makes it very interesting.
Also the background info is awsome. All the 'Did you know' sections are really fun to read and could be fun to come up with some for your own teams.
Looks like im definately going greenskins for this one!

Indeed, Friday is always a good night as that night usually sees the most people present. You mind if I borrow some of your minis?
Orcs would be great!
And as im still a little rusty on the rules you may have to bear with me a bit, but ill soon pick them up again.
So I take it you will be heading on down to the Dice and Deck this Friday?

No probs lending out teams, though I don't have any filthy greenskins so You'll just have to get converting.
I usually don't decide what to do on friday night till friday arvo, but seems like a distinct possibility.

I am very keen to get a team up and running but cant really decide which ones to collect. Also fanatics seem right deadly on the field! I was just looking through the special rules for goblin teams, they are so cool, sneaking a chainsaw onto the field! Sweet! Instead of blocking a player you just hack at them with the chainsaw! Fanatics sound pretty crazy too, don't think I've ever played a proper gobbo team.

I am definately going orcs. Their purpose is to hurt you all! That is it, that is all... just to inflict pain, crush your team and be the last one standing in a league. I got burned by failing one dodge, tripped over and gave out the turn over... now its just pain, only pain for you all!!!!!

shadowforge.com.au/ has some pretty cool BB miniatures, I've got one of their teams, about $40 for a team of 11, and they have expansion blisters so you can add extra linemen, or catcher etc as your team gets better. Great prices, good miniatures and only $5 delivery anywhere in Australia AFAIK. They have been designed for use with bloodbowl, but they don't use the copyrighted terms like "blitzer" or "catcher" but the miniatures ahve the same types "linebackers" and "wide recievers" etc they do: standard human team (used as amazons or human) playboy bunnies (amazon or human) dark elves orcs amazon or human(nuns) pro elf team team owner, head coach, doctors lots of cheerleaders lots of referees balls otherwise it looks like www.milsims.com.auhas a great selection of GW bloodbowl miniatures at the moment, and I've ordered stuff from them before, great company. www.milsims.com.au/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=108_444

And a couple of others from their 'gridiron' collection that I've been meaning to get for a while to add to the sideline of my games of bloodbowl a camera crew to capture all the action and some security guards to keep the fans off the pitch
