Just a quick post to let you know what im upto....
Obviously Orks and yes they are led by Gormath the Green Demon (He is my Ork Warboss in Fantasy Battle too, he's constantly reincarnated so never truly dies and yes, I know the fantasy and 40k universes are completely different and the time lines are incompatible....)
It will be a City Fight themed army based around a solid choice of Kommandos and artillery support.
More details coming soon....

Alrighty, now that I have a few moments I shall delve into my sinister plan in more detail.... As explained in the last post I shall be committing myself to a Ork army. Orks come in a multitude of flavors and variety so making the decision on which type I would collect was not as easy as it looks. Each of the main clans has its own distinct feel and anyone worth their salt would theme their army around one such clan and restrict themselves to certain elements of Ork Kulcha in doing so. I am a massive fan of the Orks due to the fact that I enjoy the almost mindless style of play; Charge in as quick as possible and engage in close quarters fighting, any support that you have should be used to take out template firing fiends (tanks and the like) That is much the same way as I play them in fantasy... But I would love to explore a different side to Orks and their is one clan that will allow me to do just that: Blood Axes. Blood Axes are a bit more militaristic then your other Orks. They will use cunning and guile (or the Ork versions of such approaches) in which to engage the enemy. Another reason for collecting this clan is that the Kommandos are just awesome looking models and I plan on throwing at least one large unit in the mix. As for lists, well I'm still undecided about exactly what to throw in their but here are a few pointers as to what my theory is to collecting them: - As the army is based on city fighting I'll be able to use fewer boyz in each squad. The benefit of getting cover saves just about wherever you are on the table will make them alot more resistant to long range damage. Also smaller groups of boyz will just add to the claustrophobic environment of ruined streets and back alleys. I think 3-4 units of around 20 boyz should be enough.
- The Kommandos models are great! I want at least one maxed out unit of 15 models. They will be armed in a way to represent their smarter approach to city fighting (1 Burna and 1 Rokkit Launcha). If I do decide on two units they will only number about 10-12 models each.
- One Looted Vehicle with a Boomgun will enable me to rain shells on the enemy and allow me to model up one cool looking tank. This will be based on the Basilisk model but feature an even bigger barrel (lots more Boominess!!)
- There will be a unit of 3 Killa Kans. They will lurch around and kill fings. They wont be standard GW models either as they will be heavily converted models from other armies (sentinels, Wartrukk, possibly a SM Dreadnought)
- I would also like to add in a battery of Lobbas. This will make my Army quite Heavy Support based but the feel of playing an army that rains down support fire, no matter how inaccurate on the enemy as the Boyz and Kommandos close in for the kill is just too tempting....)
- Fast Attack will be in the form of a full squad of 5 Deffcoptas 3 with Big Bomms. I would give them all Big Bomms but it is a lot of points and I'm bound to lose a few before their payload can be unleashed.
- I have not really looked at HQ yet but I'm leaning towards a Big Mek in case I feel like chucking in a Deff Dredd. I already have 3 Heavy Support and in order to make the list legal with the addition of a Dredd it will have to be taken as a Troops choice.
So thats the start of my choices to chuck in me list. Its by no means set in stone at this point but I know ill be taking lots of boyz and Kommandos. Color will be a big issue for me. I want to get into the real urban warfare deal and to do so I'm going to splash a fair bit of Camouflage paint on my guys. Their uniforms will have elements of a Urban camouflage scheme and the Kommandos will be sporting camo paint under the eyes etc. What follows are a few of the Camouflage schemes that I like the look of, If you have a fav let me know and ill see about doing it: I'm personally leaning to either of the first 2 schemes but I'm not against mixing it up a little as they will be applied to Orks after all... The rest of the model will be painted in the usual green scheme and I will endeavor to get a few stage by stage photos of how I paint them. As for my goals for the first month of painting: I have to still decide on my HQ but when its decided it will be painted. Ill also be doing a minimum of 2 squads of 20 boyz with some cool conversions that I have planned. I may even start on a few nobs regardless of whether they will make it into the army... Anyways thats it for now. Next post I should have some back story written up and possibly a few test models. Don't forget to leave some comments!!

Alrighty! As I'm still undecided about which camo scheme I would do I thought that I would get a skin color scheme down pat. Below are 4 different types of skin that I have painted for my WAAAGH!! and I would like a bit of feedback on them. All are based on a black undercoat and I will detail the other colors under each pic. The First one: A base coat of Orkhide Shade was applied followed by a dry brush of Camo Green then a light dry brush of Rotting Flesh. This was then followed by and Ogryn Flesh Wash (quite heavy) then a lighter wash of Thraka Green. This was all finished off with a Camo Green Drybrush across the most raised areas. Second: Knarloc Green was the base color for this one. A heavy dry brush of Rotting Flesh was then applied before a wash of Thraka Green. Third: This was painted in much the same way as type 2 but instead of a Thraka Green Wash I applied a Wash of Ogryn Flesh. Fourth: Once again this one was done in much the same way but I opted for a Gryphon Sepia Wash instead of the Ogryn Flesh. (I really like this mini as it looks like the Orc is bewildered by his missing gun!!) So there you have it. Each of the schemes were painted with speed in mind. Each of these schemes takes next to no time at all and since I will be painting quite a few of these models I'm very much fine with that! So once the Skin color is sorted i can finally sit down and get a test mini sorted. (just a quick note, the minis were not put together by me so ignore the shoddy construction....)

I gotta go for number 2, although it may look completely different if I saw it in person. Just looks the right colour. Not that there's anything wrong with 4.

Well the photos are a bit grainy but in person they are all slightly greener and a lot smoother.

I really like number 3, and not just to be different. Its a nice shade and different from the usual green.

WOOHOOO!!!! Only one week to go before I can begin on this project!! I am highly looking forward to this. Although I have no list as of yet (and probably wont have until month 3 or so I do know what I will be aiming to wards. I have changed my mind about my force composition and right now I only have these few things for certain: A Bigmek. Not with a shokk attak gun, every one has used that model and I would like to do something different. I like the weapon itself and the model is great but need something different to lead my force...... Who am I kidding, the thing is awesome. Bugger it, I'll use one but convert the hell out of it! This will be done in the first month. Several units of 20-30 strong boyz. Not sure on armament but my first units will be guided by the contents of the Assault on Black Reach boxes I will be buying. The first two squads will be done in the first month. 2-3 Killer Kans. I will be heavily converting these from the following kits: 1 Killer Kan 1 Space Marine Dreadnought 1 Cadian Sentinel I'm not exactly sure how these will end up but they should look cool! Not sure when abouts these will be done.... A looted wagon made from the Defiler and Basilisk kits. This will be one mean looking mutha and I am really looking forward to doing this. The wagon is going to be somewhat expensive to build but it will be the center piece to my army. Expect the final conversion to have lots of plating, cogs, pistons and grots all over it! An ork Deff Dread will be made from the bits left over from the kans and wagon. I may have to get some other bits to finish it off and thats where a few bikes might come in.... I will also be chucking in Deffcoptas and a few units of Kommandos but more on them later. As for color I will be using the following for my regular boyz: The brown keeps it from looking stereotypical for the species plus the brown will help it look more dirty and muted. The older more experienced Nobz, Mek and possibly Kommandos will use scheme 4: I think these colors will work well together and although there is a massive difference in darkness the brown shall keep it all tied together... hopefully... Bases... Well as I plan on having this army presented on a large scenic base I will have to design this first and get positions for models set so that I can have the base textures blend into the external surrounding. They will all be countersunk and the area surrounding the bases needs to blend in seamlessly. This could turn out to be a challenge but one that I am looking forward too! The scenic base will be set in a ruined city and shall be multi leveled with the sewers present and exposed. Kommandos will be working their way through the sewers along with some boys perhaps. Some marines from my own chapter will be present and dead on the base as the two armies will be natural enemies fighting for control of the city. I will put the plans up for this sometime soon! Anyways until next time: WAAAAAAAAAGH GORMATH!!!!
