[40K] Gormaths Megapocalypse Stuff Diary!

Alrighty then!
I made mention in the February Megapocalypse thread that I would be making a Gargant for the event. I also mentioned that I would post some pics of my work in progress.

I also mentioned that I would be making some other things for it and time permitting I will also do a stage by stage progress report on these too. I still do not know what they are yet but things will be built!

Anyways, back to the Gargant!

At this stage he is just a cardboard shell with one arm. I am still yet to make the other arm shell and the tracks (or legs.. depending on what I settle for) However you can still get an idea of its basic shape and size.

Once the shell is complete I will reinforce it and begin to add all the details that will take it from a cardboard box to a rolling (or walking) machine of terrible orkiness!

There are many things that will be added to make it look really special such as the Grot Bomber Take off Ramps, The Belly Kanon bay (which will possibly have interior detail to show the reloading krew and Track/leg workings) Tractor beam (for pulling Ork Rokks out of orbit to smash the table!) and something else that I will not reveal the purpose of until the day it is used (it will be kind of important for the game.....)

Anyways here are the pics. Feel free to mock it at its early stage of Boxy Greatness it will only drive me to make it look even better!

Now while I am working on this thing I need to come up with something for the other side of the table to even it up!

Some sort of massive Imperial Gun Array.. A huge Bomber... A Titan?!?

(Titan may be out of the question as that needs a little more finesse than a stompa to pull off and I really dont think I will have the time... Maybe for another time?....)

A Capitol Imperialis! Its in the 2nd ultramarines book. the gun barrel was large enough to fit 3 leman russ in it xD

Hmmm..... So a mega mega mega Canon?
Range... Unlimited (Have to have a minimum range of 4 feet) Strength D and would add 1 to Dice rolls on the Damage Chart?

Could be fitted with Gargant Buster Shells which cause D3 lost structure points every time a structure point is lost, and takes down D3 Power Fields.

Might sound a bit much before you take into some of the Gargants Stats:

Ork Mega Gargant Points: 4000

Structure Points: 9
Power Fields: 9 (these only count as armor 12 and can not be regenerated)

Damage Control on a Gargant: Gargants are so huge that there are more than enough "Krew" to repair damaged systems and still maintain near normal functionality. To represent this a Gargant can still move and fire its weapons while making repairs. A Gargant can roll one dice for every structure points it has remaining and for each 5+ it can repair either one destroyed weapon or a damaged drive.

However for each dice it rolls it must fire one less weapon and lose all its attack if in combat.

WS 2, BS 3 (Grots do the targeting) S 10, Front 14 Side 14 Rear 14, I 1, A 3

I will put in all the weapons stats later but needless to say there are a few and are quite spectacular. Pretty much all will have scatter rolls.

There will be a massive Gut Gun Thingy
Two Shoulder Mounted Weapons (probably one will have AA mount)
Two more guns in the chest region
The arm mounted gun (probably a Heavy Giga Shoota)
Grot Bomb Launch Bay
Titan combat weapon
Rokk Tractor Beam
And the Special Secret Business Weapon...

It might seem scary at first but it is fairly weak when you attack up close and get within the power fields.

Well the Capitol was more of a mobile command centre, so you could give it a bunch of bonuses for allied accuracy or something

Wont make that then... Just make some stationary BIG GUNS!

Actually scratch those rules for the Gargant Datafax...
I will amke it a bit more downscaled power wise. I need something to aim for in future constructions and allow for power creep

Scale the points back to 2500 and it will utilise similar stats to a Warlord Titan...
But lower BS and more guns.

Not exactly like that but close-ish... I will not respond to any more guesses!

Anyways have not made any real progress on this monster due to the work I have been doing on the BFSP demo table. All that needs now is some paint and she is all bananas!

I need to make myself a dedicated construction area as fighting for space on the tables (and making mess everywhere else) just aint doing it..

I may rig myself up a construction table and call it MEKBOY ASH's WORKSHOP!!

Ummm... The back room of both sides are very full. One half with the guys gear the other with mine, Steves, Megs and the store spare stock... Very full...

Plus I like my stuff in full view. Makes quite a conversational piece!

Lol k, then yeah you need to make yourself a work section. Why not buy an old wrecked baymorie (i dont know how to spell it, but those things caterers put food in to keep em warm) make a bench where the food usually goes and wire up some lights instead of the heat lamps. might be a bit of work but i think it would make a cool work desk, where people could see what you're current project is but be unable to fiddle.

I managed to do a bit more work on the Gargant today. I cut some spaces to accommodate the Gut Canon and its loading bay (Canon is a massive understatement as this thing will fire shells about the size of a 600ml bottle, I need to convert up spare Chimera to act as its loading tractor!)

I also started work on the gun shield which at the moment looks a little plain and drab but just remember this thing is only the base of the structure... many, many details need to be added to this thing and I am very much looking forward to the trip to the Hardware Store in order to spend cash on this sucka!

Next things to do will be to look at the feet and how I will make the inner gun bay details (it will also show the leg workings either side of the Canon)
