An update and with pics! Today I made quite a bit of progress on my Mega Gargant. Have just about finished with the main foam core aspect of the project so now its down to all the details such as gun barrels, force field generators, plating etc. I am growing happier with this thing every day that I work on it even though it's a fairly basic and boxy project. There has been no real hurdles except I still can not find a broken vacuum but I now think I will manage quite fine without it. Tomorrow (Sunday the 22nd?) will be spent on starting the weapons systems etc as long as I can find a fine toothed saw.... Here are some pics and I will give a brief explanation of the different parts: (all my descriptions are taken from our left and right) The big hole at the front of this monster is where the belly canon will sit. Its a really big gun and is the only gun with the 'Destroyer' weapon stat. It can fire a hefty distance and utilizes the 10" template. Just above it and to the right you can see an area that is missing and is all jagged. That is some battle damage and there will be some detail inside it. The top left half domed shoulder houses the hangars for the Grot Bombers. The runway travels across the shoulders and under the large gun tower (still only a platform at this stage) This shoulder will also be the platform for the AA guns. You can see the printer cartridge cases on top of the structure. These will swivel to allow the orcs to shoot down any flyers that get too close. The arm to our left will either have a massive Titan CCW in the form of a buzzsaw or even better a giant power klaw. Was thinking of a super lifta droppa but do not really like the look of such things. The right arm/box will harness a really large array of weapons. There will be orcs and grots manning the various weapons (the more important weapons will benefit from the grots BS ) The rear of this monster has no real detail as yet but will contain the power house and have all sorts of exhausts etc sprouting from it. I have not settled on what to use as feet yet but will probably construct them from scratch. They will only be small and not raise the Gargant too high. By the time the gargant is finished it will stand about 80cms tall to the top of the gun tower. I will try to get some shots of it tomorrow if I manage to get some work done on the weaponry

I would do something like that but am trying to keep this as much as a scratch build project as possible. I should be making a start on the feet tomorrow as well as the power plant. The picture show the general layout for the main guns. The guns all need detail work done on them and all that jazz. There are still a few more main guns to add to this thing including a main turret on the top of the tower and a few guns in the chest region. The bare arm is going to have a huge power klaw attached to it and hopefully I will get that done tomorrow. The whole Gargant will be posed as if stepping so it will have a slight lean to the left and back as it takes a step. It will not be too much of a lean to place minis on it but it will be noticeable enough to give the whole thing some movement (I hate static poses...) More pics tomorrow!

Hahaha yeah it was just a ghost. The gargant is looking pretty mean, pity i wont be able to see it for a while. Im thinking of raiding the local tip shop when i get cash again and starting work on a big steampunk gargant, with lots of clockwork goodness.

I made a start on the Power Klaw today and have just about finished its principal build. It is made so it can be opened and closed as well as rotated but that left me with the problem of where to place all the pistons etc. They were originally going to run from the Klaws themselves back to the fore arm but that may have to change if I want to keep it rotatable. The Klaw turned out a little bit bigger than expected but for my Orks bigger is better so it will be staying that way. I will probably shorten the forearm a bit so it does not come out so far from the main body. I will probably change the angle of the elbow joints as well so it does not look so flat. I now need to 'sharpen' the Klaw by adding card to the inside edges and make peaks out of it to give it a sharp looking edge. Some people reckon to leave it as it is but I reckon the sharp look will suit it better. Heres a few pics: This shot has a Rhino in the Klaw toshow off the scale... As always the details still need to be worked on. Tomorrow I will start on the powerplant and get some feet happening. I will also spend some time working on the top turret. Wednesday will keep me busy as I add all the piping to the model and start adding the plating and rivets.

So have it turned around as if running from the Gargant? Not very honorable now is it?

Nope, Meg has a Wisdom Tooth coming through so we went to SA Dental Services. We rang up in the morning, got put on a 8 hour waiting list, went in there got a consultation, prescription and a appointment to get an X-ray, get the tooth removed removed and another tooth repaired.
$44 TOTAL (incl the next appointment for the surgery)
Tomorrow I am free to work on it some more. Shall drop into the hardware store and get more stuff then build the powerplant and finish some of the guns etc.
Thursday its plating time and adding all sorts of nifty gubbins. Finish friday and undercoat the bastard. Probably will not have it finished by saturday but it will look impressive nonetheless!

Got a bit more work done today with the bits of scrap I have laying about. Started working on the jaw. It serves two functions; to make the thing look more feral and to have a cool place for more Orks to shoot from. It looks rather goofy at the moment but I am hoping that when the rest of the head is finished it will not look so out of place. I also started some work on the power plant. Just pretty much attached a computer power supply cover onto the back and added the fan and a pvc pipe. Much more needs to be done on it to make it look like its the actual powerhouse of the Gargant. It looks like production may have to slow down on this for a while until I can source more Foam Core. I'll order some but it may take a week to get here Anyways some pics:

Megapocalypse 09 has been and gone. It was an awesome game to organise and watch! 75,000 points were deployed at the start of the game and god knows how many points were cycled through the duration of the game but it was MASSIVE!
Unfortunately the Gargant got itself blowed up by turn 3 or something but thats more to do with the sheer amount of 'D' strength weapons that were fielded by the other side. He is still not quite finished but he will be by June and the next massive battle of Apocalypse (titled Uberpocalypse?)
I will be having a small break from the beast in order to pursue the latest shiny thing from GW; the Ork Stompa!
What an awesome kit it is. Its huge, fun to put together and come with a huge variety of extra bits. I have already got myself one. Luckily a guy at the store makes massive impulse buys and then tends to sell them cheap once constructing them. I scored mine assembled for $65. Unfortunately as it was pre assembled I was a little buggered when it came to major conversions but I managed to pull some off anyways. Check back here for a pic real soon.
I am planning on having 3 of the behemoths finished by June as I am taking part in this game of Apocalypse. I am hoping to field one each of the Stompas from Apocalypse and Reloaded and they will make for some fun conversions. I am also hoping to field Ghazgkulls Bully Boys and the Green Tide along with them which should give me quite a few points!
Well, we will see how I go....
